New iPod Touch, iPod Nano

I still love my little shuffle, wish it had glass around it :( hehe.

I prefer the Nano before the new one. The new shape is going back to the previous one.

I'm glad there is no new iPod Classic :)

I hate having old technology :/

EDIT: No! New 120GB! Screw you apple! :(:(

$229 for a 8gig touch? is it really that cheap over there?
Sad but so very very true!! I have the 16Gig version, love it(no iPhone k@ka locked in, not released yet, contracts, pay-in blah blah), but i would so like to have a proper speaker but the touch only has a beeper(like old 286 pc's)

Its crap that they didnt add anything new to the new iTouch though, they only added a speaker! Atleast add vibrate alert for calander events & games(i always mis my appointments because of no vibrate!) Add some bluetooth geez for headphones & sharing! And if they are really awesome add that crap 2megapixel camera from the iphone.:D

EDIT: Sorry about that, they also added a hardware button for volume control(HOW THE HELL THEY DIDNT PUT THAT IN THE TOUCH TO START OFF WITH STILL AMAZES ME!!! An mp3 player without a volume control button, someone kill me!

Seems they took 2 iPhones to the boardroom and said: "Hey what can we do to make these 2 unique products and make double the money?" One jumped up and said: "Dude just take away the volume button and bluetooth and send it on its way"
Steve: "Duuuude thats genius!"

I'm still using my 5th Gen 80GB. I never watch video or run with the thing, so I prefer the larger capacity. I'll probably only buy a new one when this one dies, and might consider the classic again. The touch has a lot of bling that I have no use for (in my case, but i'm sure other people do). I like having the classic range around.

I've made up my mind... I'm getting the iPod Touch 64GB when it comes out...
Personally, 16GB or 32GB is still no small for me.... Plus their battery life is about the same

And lets face it, hard drives are on their way out...
And the nano, uhhh

I don't quite agree. Hard drives still have the capacity and in most cases speed benefit. Solid state never quite lived up to the performance hype. It will definitely improve, no argument there, but for now hard drives have their place. I do not have a single solid state device that can write faster than about 4 Mb/s. Read speeds are better, but typically below hard drive speeds. When you are talking large capacity devices, speed starts to matter. For smaller capacity devices ( < 16 GB), you can get away with slow read/write speeds.

Btw, I'm talking technology used in current devices. I know there are some VERY fast solid state devices, but they are either in the R&D phase, or ridiculously expensive.

EDIT: Sorry, make that 4 MB/s

If they don't expand the codec support and put in a real display I'll
never go back to iPods. My first and last iPod was the 3rd generation
in 2003 which I self-imported before they were selling in SA.

I agree ... I too dont agree ... :p ;)

HDDs are a lot faster atm ... just IDE ... then if you look at SATA and SAS drives ... it will be a long time before you have a 1TB HDD in solid state.

Then solid state only have a finite amount of read/writes ... so there is a life time issue! Last thing you want is the chips on the MB going ... and you need to replace the whole MD to add a new HDD ... :(

BUT ... the technology is going there, and will get there ... soon ... it just isnt there yet.

I was also hoping for a 240GB iPod Classic, but in a Touch form factor - battery life be dammmm'd!

Has anybody loaded 2.1 firmware on their 1G Touch?
