Any special techniques you used to get this right?I disagree. Ours have been "sleeping through" since the 6th week. It's literally only when he's a bit sick that he doesn't sleep completely through - from 8 to 7, every night.

Really depends on the child I guess, ours slept through from about 2 months or so. But even at 8 years now he will occassionally wake up.That thing about no sleep for the first year or more is real![]()
Lots of drinking throughout the day. Like, lots. Milk, water, juice, etc. He must never be thirsty at night. Also, keep the room cooler than you think. Too warm/hot, and it's a problem. A hot and thirsty baby won't sleep.Any special techniques you used to get this right?

That's not true for all. Both my kids slept through from the beginning. My wife told friends that she had to get up a few times, but I don't know about that. That thing about no sleep for the first year or more is real![]()
Go to the "doc" for a "prostate" exam.. say it went wrong and resulted in some pain to explain why you are walking funny after the vasectomy..All this talking...... and the wife wants a third![]()

This is so true... 10000 internet points for this postA few things I can now say after 1 year:
1. It's easier than people say it is.
2. It's harder than people say it is.
3. Babies are cheaper than you think.
4. Babies are more expensive than you think.
Does yours also sleep feed? Ours is down from about 9pm to about 7 but she's 'up' sleep feeding multiple timesYou need Vaseline. Rub it on the outside doorknob of your bedroom and close the door, then he can't get in and bother you.
I'm kidding, but yeah, I know we're lucky. I have a friend who's kid sleeps 3 hours, awake 4 hours, sleep 3 hours, awake 4 hours, all the time. So they have to time naps according to his times every day.
EDIT: Oh yes, and ours also stirs and groans, but he never wakes up. He just "repositions" himself in bed and keeps on sleeping.
Nope. We usually have a bottle close by with some formula powder and a thermos with hot water if he wants to drink, but it doesn't happen often. Maybe once every 2 weeks or so, he'll be thirsty, then he drinks, and sleeps again.Does yours also sleep feed? Ours is down from about 9pm to about 7 but she's 'up' sleep feeding multiple times

Ours do that as well sometimes, so we usually keep an eye on him, usually before bedtime, and as soon as the formula runs out we stick in the dummy. Then he's out cold for the night.Hopefully she grows out of it - she does feed herself (with eyes closed) but fusses once either the formula runs out or if she 'loses' the bottle
What is the current state of nappy exchanging? Is there anyone who accepts nappies without a slip?I see where you're coming from. The difference is that Dischem and PnP require proof of purchase for that (both from personal experience) while Baby City does it without asking questions. That helps for items received on baby showers or from well meaning family, etc.
