I decided to change from cool ideas to another ISP, everything was good with them but not sure why i need to pay more if almost every ISP i checked is cheaper.
Webafrica couldn't get me connected and support was none existent, so i quickly cancelled with them...not worth the effort.

So, basically looking for an ISP , 100 or 50 speed , good upload as well, support doesn't have to be great, but the whole whatsapp only support doesn't work for me.

The ISP's i checked have a "month to month" contract but with cancellation fee, now to me its not really month to month....are all ISPS like that?
what do you guys recommend?i do like the current rsaweb offer of R945 (until jan) per month for 100/100, with 1gb sim card....but as mentioned not too happy about the R995 cancellation fee

I can't wait for November to dump RSAWEB at work :)

R5700 per month business 50/50 line BTW

And to their business support this is acceptable and we should be happy since our internet is up... fighting with them for 3 years already... I get Octotel is **** but like surely its not that **** we get half our line...

Most ISPs will charge a clawback fee as ISPs do get charged for activation's. Did you have a look at our offers? We have a fixed R999 cancellation fee if you cancel within 6 months. As far as I'm aware 6 month cancellation commitment is the shortest when comparing ISPs that cover the activation fees.

Please check a pm I sent you @AfriNatic

RocketNet and WebSquad are both solid options imo.

Had a few issues with WebSquad but one of those issues would only affect you if you're on a gigabit package. For the most part they went out of their way to help.

Rocketnet is not really an ISP that comes up too much here but I had a very pleasant experience during my time with them.

anyone using mweb?they seem to have 1 free month promotion at the moment

Go with Afrihost, great customer portal, dealing with @AfriNatic sorts out any issues in no time

For some reason i can't access my account, busy sending them my ID and my picture and credit card....not too sure why....but i guess if i go with them they will have most of those details anyway

i do also like the mweb offer with 1 free month but i can't seem to find an email to ask them about the fees if i cancel before the 12 month.
a bit strange that you can't email sales with a sale question....unless i am missing something

Hi @bar1

If you check your physical address on https://www.rocketnet.co.za/coverage-map/ you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that you may have other Fibre Network Operators (FNO) active at your address. Most ISP's have different monthly line rentals depending on who the FNO is at your address.

Also have a look at https://www.hellopeter.com/industries/internet-service-provider you will see some shocking reviews from customers (nature of the platform) but you will also see a great deal of positive reviews highlighting the human element. Key here is to see how negative reviews were handled, were they responded to and based on how the issue was resolved did the customer give a smiley face afterwards to indicate that their issue was resolved in a satisfactory manner.

Also look for value added features offered by the ISP:
  • Mobile App / Web Portal to check your internet data and bandwidth usage - https://launchpad.rocketnet.co.za/
  • Mobile App for Wireless troubleshooting / selfhelp - RocketNet Probe on Android and IOS app store
  • Web portal where you can see fibre faults and maintenance related outages - https://rss.rocketnet.co.za
  • Does the provider offer an educational platform related to the internet of things - https://blog.rocketnet.co.za/
  • Can the ISP give you more payment methods and offer different D/O days e.g. CC, QR Code Payment, SCODE etc. If paid via the secure portal payments will the D/O still go off etc.
  • Does the ISP offer other services like VoIP and business services.
  • Can the ISP offer Uninterupted Power Supply to power the router and ONT in the "likely" event of loadshedding.
  • How quickly can you speak to a human when you need to?
T's & C's:
  • What happens with the router when you leave the ISP
  • Can the ISP provide a service when you move addresses
  • Fine print related to early termination (ranges from 6 months to 24 months)
Happy to answer any additional questions you may have, feel free to send us a DM.

Any ISP's offer discounts if you get an entire complex to sign up with them?

I have had openserve with mweb for around 8 months but had to sell up and move. Not one issue from the get go. Only once there was infrastructure upgrades where all openserve was down for a night

i am now moving to a place with ocototel

is octotel better or worse and how is RSAweb as a ISP ?

From what others have shared here, both are pretty bottom of the barrel.

Do a forum search on both and see the absolute mess of complaints.

Since I've had Fibre, I've used RocketNet, Afrihost and Websquad.

Currently with Websquad and very happy. Great service!

Afrihost is ok, but if you run into issues, your best bet is to ask for help on Social Media. The regular support channels will make you run in circles and the thing that frustrates me is that they send scripted responses. Rocketnet are also great but I felt they were not keeping up with the other ISPs when I left (they didn't have a Gigabit offering etc at the time).

Axxess also an option... Similar pricing and owned by afrihost, I believe but free R50 voip credit per month. More useful that one realises.

Hi @JOEY_8 happy to report back that we have many Gbps offerings now. Give us a shout if you need us to confirm the FNO and available packages. Trust we are leading in certain areas and not just keeping up with ISP's :)

Trying to choose between Afrihost and Vox as fibre provider, 30/30.
The router Afrihost provides looks decent, anyone know what router Vox provides?

Generally a mikrotik that is locked and any time you want a change to be made you need to log a support ticket or sign a form that says you have access but should you need support regarding the router they won't help you type of deal
