Hey guys, I have been thinking about this idea for while now and thought i should run it by you all. Tell me what you think and if you would go for it (if the price was right of course):

Ok its an UNCAPPED after hours account (say from 7pm to 6am weekdays and all weekend). During peak times instead of being throttled or having a rolling threshold you are given a cap, Lets say 2gigs. (There are other offers of say 4gig - 6gig, depending on your needs and your budget)

So in otherwords, you have an 2gig account at any speed you want but anything you download offpeak does not deduct from your 2gig cap.

If i where an ISP I would charge R600 for this service (which includes a 4mb line) or R500 for this service (which includes a 512 line) etc..

What you guys think? Maybe if you like this idea an ISP that visits this forum and can steal my idea and provide such a service:D:D.

Please let me know.

Sounds good - also sounds familiar... aren't there capped packages that allow uncapped afterhours bandwidth already?

BTW, "if I were an ISP" indicates that you may not have any idea about the costs or requirements of provisioning such a service... so I'm assuming you mean that that's what you imagine the market is willing to pay for that service?

already being done. Basically the same thing as the throttled accounts.

I'd take it at R600 for a 4mbps line :D

But seriously, this does sound like a way better solution than throttling you to 192/256/384 kbps with the rolling threshholds crap they implement, during business hours.

They should allow you to top up your cap as well.
