New LCD

Talk about an old thread :p

I believe G to G stands for Grey To Grey - a measure of the response time. Normally monitors have two specs IIRC: grey to grey and average (across all colors).

Response time is not really an issue with CRTs.

equivalent for CRT is refresh rate. eg 80Hz etc....

100Hz would be 10ms I supose

Mkay ... so CRT's bragging about 2ms response times are probably G to G.

What I am trying to determine is :
Theres an LCD with 8ms R to R, and another with 2ms [unspecified].
Bleugh ... these blerry marketers never include enough technical details.

Best bet: post up the LCD monitor name/model and we'll be able to dig up the dirt :D

Samsung 930BF

Not caring to read this whole thread.

The 19inch Samsung 930BF has got some good reviews.
Should sell for under R3K

why you guys are so concerned about the response times? I haven't see an LCD display in the last 1+ years which has problems with the response time so there is a ghosting or something!

your typical crap CRT usually has a response time above 15ms and you still have no problem with that, who the hell needs a response time of 2ms??? Anything of 16ms and less is more than good enough for any reasonable application, from gaming to video to web browsing.

The manufacturers that claim much better response times than the flagship brands like Dell, Sony etc. more than likely lie, to make you believe their inferior products are better!
