new mac user here ‍

Apple tell you they’ll offer you the latest & greatest OS for many many years - no other phone does that.

Die hard fans believe it - and they think their iPhones from years back, are the same iOS. The same with tvOS. Someone told me the other day that he’ll get updates for a decade, do he doesn’t have to worry about anything.

And although they SAY this and LABEL the software updates the same - they’re all different? My iPhone is not even 2 years old and doesn’t offer . My neighbour iPhone 14 is 4 months old - and the iPhone 15 does things he can’t do.

My Apple TV is running the same tvOS as yours. But I can’t run the same things.

It’s like Google saying they’ll support every device for 10 years and push Android 14 to everything, but just cut features.

It’s very different to a regional block on features. And most people can see this … but that bias tendency you have is maybe the reason you don’t want to believe it?
Only you seem to think it's an Apple only thing...
Samsung One UI 5.1 is the latest build based on Android 13 OS. It brings improvements to the Camera and Gallery applications, multitasking, modes and routines, and much more.

However, some users are unhappy that the update left out some features.

Light Mode, Image Clipper, and Color Palette missing in Samsung Galaxy S22 One UI 5.1 update

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), some Galaxy S22 owners feel that the update misses out on some of the essential features.

a) Oh you found an outlier example :/ Whoop Whoop. Can you get another example on another Samsung product or any other product?

b) Can you see the difference between people? Samsung owners are upset - and Apple users don’t believe it / make excuses

Maybe Samsung thought Apple users are stupid enough to fall for it - but doesn’t anticipate that their own users can think and form opinions themselves?

@backstreetboy be like a standard technology fan . Acknowledge and get upset like the Samsung guys. Form your own opinion. Think for yourself

You’ll feel that much better

You should follow your own advice. Sell your iPhone and Apple TV if they're giving you so much grief and get an Android.

Oh - I know how to list pros and cons for both.

I’m what we call … objective. I can tell you works & what doesn’t. Where they can improve and where there are pretty good. Where can be added etc.

I’m not part of the cult - so I don’t have any interest in trying to persuade people either way. You’ve spent a number of months trying to convince everyone on your thoughts

Funny you keep going on and on and on about the negatives though.

improved greatly like the keyboard that got much better after iOS 17.
I wonder if we all get the same keyboard now that you mention it? Maybe it differs as well. I guess there is no way of knowing since everything is listed iOS17

By the way, that’s ONE issue. I can go into depth about so many more facts …

Of course not, because if you stopped pretending to be dumb for a moment you would know it’s hardware dependant.

It uses the Neural Engine to make it happen which is only available from the iPhone 12 and up.

Hold the bus - are you saying that limiting my charging to 80% is hardware dependent? What chip is that?

And the Apple TV 4K 2nd generation can’t do HDR10+ because of hardware? What chip is that?

And FaceTime time won’t work on the Apple TV 4K 1st gen because of hardware either? What chip is that?

Standby won’t work on an iPhone 13 Pro because of hardware? What chip is that?

The Standby is a weird one

‘We won’t implement Always On in the older phones because we’ve determined than 10hz displays are just not good enough and you’ll use more battery running it. So rather than giving you the option or implementing something poor - we’ve decided to help you better make a choice by excluding this totally and helping your battery life! You can thank us later !

As mentioned above, we care a lot about batteries and their health - so we’ve also decided not to limit you to 80% because, um, no real reason. We just think you need to charge to 100 and kill the battery faster. Totally the opposite mindset to the above - But we decided for you!

Now we have this new feature which uses the charger - but because we’ve left out the previous feature to save battery, we’re not going to implement this correctly at all. But we’ll implement it anyway and let you choose!

In summary - the above is all in iOS 17 … but it depends on how we felt as whether you implement correctly, or a half assed attempt - or just leave it out.

PS Sorry for the guys that bought their phone a few months ago and lack settings that you desire . We’ll put out a marketing brief shortly to spin you a story. Or just buy the new iPhone 15 to have the best iOS17 and all the settings … until next year :)

@mods

Can we rename the Apple section to the Dolby section please? He makes every Apple thread about him so it just keeps it consistent.

Thanks.
Or rather just rename this to the Apple Fan Club and create a real Apple section where people can ask questions without the fear of insults and the gang mentality?

It’ll create a safe space for anyone new that can actually say & ask what they want.

As per usual, the gang joins … we have multiple posts flaming someone … and then the gang blames the single person and asks for them to be removed. Also interesting to note that I participate in probably less than 1% of the the threads here - but they're the threads that get the most action because the gang arrive shortly afterwards and spam the hell out of it

@Dolby do you really care about limiting your phone charging to 80% or the standby features?
That’s a crazy reply that doesn’t even make any sense . Aren’t you running out of things to say?

Certainly feels that way

No answer is also an answer.
But it just makes no sense?

You : Apple updates all their devices to the absolute latest . No other phone does

Me : Well they leave out feature (xyz) - even a 3 month old iPhone 14 doesn’t have it

You : Do you even need the feature? You’re troll! Ban him!
