True. Just like laptops without CD/DVD drives were normal in 1986.

The same as when the Air came out. People freaked out because it only had 2 USB ports. Now it's their best selling Mac.

This new Macbook is intended for use always on the move. It's like complaining the iPad only has one port. You charge it and you use it and occasionally you stick the DSLR in there to offload.

It is not intended to be your main computer either. MacBook on the move and a iMac or Pro for power use at home :)

I think you will be disappointed. The advanced model is more likely to have no ports :)
Yes, it's easy to forget that Apple inhabits opposite land.

Magsafe worked on the heavier macbooks, it's becoming increasingly useless on something this light.
Make the connection a little weaker. It's still better having a something that can detach fairly easily versus a plug that is guaranteed to drag the machine off the counter.

The Macbook Pro only had two USB ports anyway, and it has always been a major annoyance. These things sell, and Apple knows this, because you don't have a lot of options to choose from.

Feels like a "wait for version 2"; which will probably provide the missing 2nd port.

Yeah it feels like the original Air. Clearly the future, but with a few too many compromises. Version 2 or 3 will remove the issues.

I'm hoping these are just guestimates from Digicape.

The Apple TV is supposed to be cheaper, but not in South Africa yet...

Rand vs Dollar.

That's the only reason the pricing is up.

Pffff this new Mac might appeal to some, particularly females and the aged, that are looking for lighter and stripped down computers. But for me, I will stick with the MBP Pro range. And Apple PLEASE don't strip away ports from the PRO range in future products !!!!

This obsession to thin and light devices has reached it's limit. I wonder who will be the first person that will report that their new Macbook bent like a banana simply by picking it up :D
