New Macbook launched

Wow - Impressive !

Loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate this would be a very desirable laptop.

Yeah well, what are you going to run on it with your superior unix based OS ?

The best thing you can do with Apple hardware is load a decent OS on it - like Windows 7 since it supports EFI the BIOS. Loading Vista on it would be less spectacular.

LOL

Well I can get iWork and have a better than MS Office OS.
I can get MS Office for Mac. I can get any of the 5-6 flavours of OpenOffice for Mac.

I can get every Adobe App for the Mac.
I can get Final Cut Studio for Mac.
I can get Shake for Mac.
I can get Logic Pro for Mac.
I can rip DVDs with Handbrake and MacTheRipper.
I can encode MKVs, AVIs, QTs with 3rd party Mac apps.
I can watch DVDs on the DVD player or VLC.
I can burn Bluray or DVD with Toast or FCS or Adobe Production Suite.
I can edit photo in Aperture, Photoshop or GIMP.
I can repair my HDD with Drive Genius and other apps.
I can watch any video file in MPlayer, VLC or QT player.
I can edit music in Logic Pro, Garage Band or Audacity or an Adobe App.
etc ...

You're just ignorant, not my fault in that.

You have too much money to spend, not my fault in that.

Sooooo you're saying it's cheaper to buy a Macbook - designed to work with OSX - throw the already paid for OSX away and buy Windows 7 for R2-3000 and now you're saying I have too much money to spend?

No sequitur.

iWork is cheaper than MS Office.
Final Cut is cheaper than Adobe Premiere.
MacTheRIpper/Handbrake are free.
DVD player is included.
etc.

Once you buy the hardware, owning a Mac is cheaper in terms of software expenditures.

EDIT: YES you can also get tons of WAREZ for Mac.

Thing is, keeping OSX on it and installing more Mac software on it makes it more gay.

Loading Windows7 on it makes be everything it can be. It more of a metro type thing then. It still wears make up and looks pretty, but at least it can do a couple of real jobs and play some real games :p

Windows 7 is free (if you are an Enterprise partner).

Mac software is usually better than equivalent PC software. Plus the OS is paid for.

Everything it can be? You mean a pretty piece of junk?

Buying a PC for looks is crazy. People don't buy Macs for the looks.
Real jobs? OSX is a real OS. Windows is NT with networking and security stuck on as an after thought is a less capable OS. Use OSX for a while and see how easier it is and how less bothersome it is.

Games? Mac Book is not the fastest machine around, you know.

Well it's not free, you have to pay to be an Enterprise partner.
OSX is already paid for - included in cost of machine.

Many of mine are OsX only so there you go. Horses for courses. ;)

Oh I know, but saying that wouldn't stir the pot at all, and where's the fun in that? :D
I actually looked at them yesterday afternoon, when they were announced. Nice machines, pity about the price though.

I had a look at those new Macs. The MacMinis are still only useful for very basic use, and the 21.5" iMacs are no better. I can get a better machine for half the price.

The 27" iMac with the Nehalem chip is ahead of the curve, and for $1999 (excl Windows) it's well priced. However, when it lands here, retailing at R 48 999, after taxes, duties, shipping, Windows, Core raping and Dick's retirement fund contribution, it's just not worth looking at. I can get a Nehalem machine with a 30" display for just over R 20 000.

Not to mention the other problems with Macs, that they are TEH SUCK, their keyboards and mice need to be replaced with something usable, and that I'd be too ashamed to ever be seen in public with one. Nice try, maybe next time Apple. As for OS X, 95% of computer users cant be wrong - Windows is superior.

30 inch and a Nehalem quad or 8 core system in a dual motherboard setup with ECC RAM? R20K???

The cheapest 30 inch monitor will cost you R15K.

That's why TOYOTA makes the best cars.
