New Macbook launched

You made a booboo ?
What booboo? an option without OSX means excluding it.

That would require Apple porting over all it's OSX optimized and designed apps, like I said, Apple needs it's own spec built OS and builds Apps for it without being held back by Microsoft.

The magic mouse is not yet supported on windows for example, that will come later.

I did not say anything about their application.

The whole point was that if they offered it with Windows then people with Windows applications will buy them and run their Windows applications on it. They have no interest in the Mac applications since they decided to buy one that comes with Windows, not Mac.

Makes more sense now ?

The thing what is holding Apple back is the unholy marriage of software and hardware.

LOL! It was Microsoft who pressured OEMs and small shops to sell PCs WITH WINDOWS. It is MS which is now opening Windows retail stores.

There's no money to be made in generic clone hardware sales. The fact is that OSX is a brilliant product and marrying it to a quality hardware platform with excellent support and R&D makes Mac a winning, easy to use and better than Windows product. Apple makes lots of profit.
This notebook will appeal to a lot more people if they offer it with an option between MacOS, Windows7 or Linux as OS. Then more people will actually buy it and use it for whatever needs they have. It will not longer be confined to a handful of self proclaimed elitist.

They offer that option, it's called BOOTCAMP.
Same goes for MacOS - why have a hackintosh if you can simply buy MacOS and install it on hardware that meets the requirements? I mean it is based on Unix and that is supposed to be a very portable OS.

They don't want to do that because then they'll be competing with MS.
Fanbois are not the problem, cater only for the fanbois - that is the problem.

"Fanbois" = loyal customer. I mean get off your high horse calling people fanbois. I've used Windows for years, I also ripped at Mac users and when I started using a Mac I changed. It is a superior OS on a decent quality platform with great support and an increasing number of free and commercial apps.

For example Carbon Copy Cloner for Mac, I could clone my active OS partition to another drive while booting from that active partition. Try that with NTFS and I hear there is a second program which can do it too - also FREE - also for Mac.

I'm happy to pay extra to Apple. They churn out quality. Microsoft takes your cash and gives you malware, botnets and spam.

Windows is optional, a Mac is not a PC it's made for OSX, get it now?

I think that Apple should stop being so greedy and release OSX for PC's.

Depends on how much of the thing they want to sell.

Apple is a h/w co and not a s/w one. Hence their machines are pricey - but their software is cheap. If apple releases OSX for PCs that will undercut their h/w sales and they'll be competing with MS and all the clone makers.

I'm waiting for the 2nd rev unibody macbook to come out - remember what happened when the Aluminum Macbook was dropped after a few months and replaced by a 13" MBP?

i mean, this one doesn't have FW!!! and I still want a black one (again)!

Anyone know at all where in East London I can purchase a macbook? I've not been able to find them in Incredible connection or Hifi corp, and I'd like to look at the new macbook unibody model before actually buying it!
