Apple today announced that its entire MacBook(TM) Pro line of notebooks now includes the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor and delivers performance that is up to 39 percent faster than the previous generation. All MacBook Pro models now offer double the memory and greater storage capacity than the previous generation, as well as a FireWire(R) 800 port for connecting to high-speed peripherals

The long awaited upgrade brings the Core 2 Duo processor to Apple's professional laptops. Prices remain the same and the specs are as follows:

15" MacBook Pro, 2.16GHz, 1GB, 120GB HD, $1999.
15" MacBook Pro, 2.33GHz, 2GB, 120GB HD, $2499.
17" MacBook Pro, 2.33GHz, 2GB, 160GB HD, $2799.

I was wondering when they would be making that upgrade a reality. That 17" is looking pretty schweet. ;)

Not bad, about time.

Are they available yet for SA?

How much will that puppy end up costing you?

The 17" will most probably be just under R30k ... and no, they are not available in SA yet (probably just before x-mas, so time to start being good, otherwise Santa is going to bring you a Dell :p :D)

Why would it cost R30 000? More like R24 000 as the international prices have stayed the same. Maybe I don't have enough background here but if zastore think they can tack on whatever markup they want because the product is new they must be havin a laugh.

I dont see why they would increase the price - it's still selling for the same amount in the US.

Then again it is core . . . .

I wish i could own one!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, dats alot of cash money!

 N7.1

If core's track record with the new ipod is anything to go buy, expect to see a price rise. Chances are we'll see there stock of 1G MBP's around for a number of months with the new editions selling at a premium.

39% faster than the old one :(.

Neio ... how do you feel right now ???

So Landy - when are you upgrading? :D

I am still sticking to my guns that there will definitely be a price increase. I reckon around the R28k mark ... take inflation/exchange rates into account by the time it lands in SA.

@bwana: re upgrade ... well, if I can wangle it to buy out of the lease pre-tax money, I might just be able to upgrade around X-mas time, when it launches in SA :D

On the other hand, an extra 1Gb stick is much cheaper :p

I'm getting the top spec 15" as soon as they land or crawl into this country. Been saving for one of these babies for almost 18 months.

Mainly for varsity but it is sure gonna see many hours of WoW. Gonna be my main computer for a good 3 years, i hope. Can send my PC to the graveyard eg. being a mail server :)
