New Macbook Pro!!

Hi there

I just got a Macbook Pro yesterday... the 15' with the 80GB drive. I am just so impressed with the build quality of the laptop and the functions that are all built in. I have been working on Windows machines for a very long time and I just got tired of it. I did allot of reseach about the Mac and the functions and everything I use from mail to VPN clients for work are all availible.

I configured my Itunes and WOW last night and its super fast compare to the windows XP startup times. I might later install bootcamp to make it a duel boot for XP but then with the new OS X release it might not be nessasary (Open GL 2.1)

Well tonight is play night and I need to install my VPN clients and MSN, skype to see if that works.

Cheers

I am full steam ahead to read up on all the availible software and what I can get out of this machine. But so far I am so so happy.

Will keep you guys posted

Cheers

Perhaps use MacTheRipper to remove any region coding then play the files. It would also help if you told osx to ignore any dvd that is inserted so it doesnt initially pick up the region.

There is a set limit to the number of times you can change regions before it locks permanently.

Just read through some of the post on the sub forum, you'll find lotsa links. I started one thread that has a link to the Pure Mac apps download page.

Only 5 weeks!! thats how long we have to wait before purchasing a new macbook pro.

I installed MSN and the front end just looks better then windows. I got my mate to get the proper cisco vpn client so I just need to install that and test it. If that works then I am going to be very happy.

What do you guys use to view Exchange mail.... I dont want to download it localy just view it online.

 Yep, def long :(
I had to wait almost just as long for my new baby (3-4 weeks). It becomes excruciating, the wait ;)

Digicape on Roeland Street, Cape Town have some in stock apparently.

Thanks for that... I will use the browser as I dont want to download my mail and have it offline on my Mac and the other half on my work laptop.

I got mine from Digicape.. I think I got the second last one in the 15" screen size. I think all the 17" ones where gone.

I installed my cisco vpn client and remote desktop and did all my support from home yesterday. Works a treat. I just cant believe the speed at which I can do multi tasking. I am just going to get another 512MB stick to make it a gig. They did not have in stock when the cash was burning so it will have to wait.

I played a bit of WOW and in window mode I get good fram rate.... 30-60. But sometime it drops to 15 and it will jerk a bit. The screen is just so clear you cant stop looking at it. haha

Question
Can I buy a 1 gig stick and add it to the 512MB or must I run the memory in pairs. The one guy told me that I need to buy it in pairs and the other guy was happy to sell me the single 1gig stick.

Cheers

Wicked...

I will then rather get another 512 stick to get the max out of the memory performance.

Thanks

I'd sooner get one 1gb now and another down the road. At some stage you're gonna wish you had 2gb in it (if its the newly release model then 3gb) and then you're going to have to trash yet another stick.
