New Mustang headed for SA

5L V8
Dad to to son: Son please take the new Mustang and go get another 2L coke for the branners, I'm *** dronk and can't drive. Just go to the Kwik Spar it's 5mins away, here's R15 for the coke and R50 for petrol, hurry now.

The mustang doesn't run on petrol, it runs on peasant tears.

Great recap here...

http://www.autodealer.co.za/article_1821.html

"Ford will be offering the Mustang with two engines options: a 2.3-litre EcoBoost, which develops 233kW and 430Nm of torque and a 5.0-litre V8, which is good for 306kW and 530Nm. The 2.3-litre will reach 100km in 5.8 seconds, whereas the V8 will do it in 4.8 seconds.

Now I was worried that the 2.3-litre would sound and feel underwhelming but it actually doesn’t. Its little four-cylinder turbocharged motor performs well and it has a rather nice sound to it. The V8 on the other hand is a hoot to drive. This new Mustang needs to be a European competitor and Ford has spent a lot of time fine-tuning the suspension on the car.

The results can be felt when driving the car. Both 2.3 litre EcoBoost and V8-powered GT Mustang models feature high-performance brake packages behind 19-inch wheels as part of the Performance Pack, which is fitted as standard on all South African models. On the V8 powered GT models, six-piston Brembo front calliper."

So it's exactly what Nissan SA did with the skyline. Limit availability, jack up price, offer limited service plan, profits.

What worries me is whether they're going to take the same tack with the Focus RS. Not looking forward to seeing what Ford do there... after how long it took them to get the Mustang out here and how badly they're screwing us on price, it's a little hard to trust 'em.

"Ford will import between 40 and 45 Mustang units a month next year, and there’s a waiting list for prospective buyers to get their hands on one. It’s priced quite highly in our market (a 2.3 Fastback is similar money to a Toyota 86 in the USA), but Ford says it wants to keep it an ‘exclusive’ model in SA. Strange, because this blue-collar sportscar has never been exclusive in its home country where college kids and family men have enjoyed its value-for-performance ratio for 51 years."

Le sigh

supply and demand, the end

As expected.. Car industry milking the SA consumer!

Guys how are you enjoying my Mustang updates/news for the local market?

If I came accross something interesting Mustang-related I pop it down here

lol, everytime i see one of these i will imagine a Ford dildo up the persons butthole...jammed right up to the balls (just picture it!!)

800k+ for a Ford...a fool and his money are soon parted.

these are supposed to be "affordable working men's sports cars"

In America the last statement applies. It's cheaper in the UK vs here but priced very close to a say 420i Coupe...that's hardly affordable.

American Dream people get the proper value of the 'Stang

Mustang starts at around $25,000 in USA....that's around the same price as a Camry, C-Max, Accord or Passat.

its almost half the price of a starting 4 series in the US which is hilarious :)

that means we SHOULD be paying around Golf GTI prices for a 2.3L

whoever doesn't see the blatant dildos being handed out by Ford on this one....I just don't know....the Fool statement still stands :)
