This is the MWEB Business offering marketed to residential users minus the contract and Cisco router rental.

It's nice if you want such speeds but it's very expensive. If MWEB doesn't slow down the existing 4Mbit uncapped accounts to force high users into this OVERPRICED and RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE offering, I'll be happy to stay on UNCAPPED SHAPED as I could potentially achieve >1TB /month on that if I really wanted (downloaded 24/7). What's worrying is that it seems that MWEB maybe can't afford to run the current 4Mb offering at the present price.

To SUMMARISE - it's EXPENSIVE, OVERPRICED and is going back to the PRE-SEACOM days. Maybe it's nice for gamers or people who trade stock online but then don't call it 'addict'. People who really need to trade stock should have the option of a BUSINESS OFFERING with the goodies which go with that (24/7 support etc), possibly minus contract or on short term contracts - eg 3-6mo contracts.

They are just covering their wickets with that product. Hundred bucks says first time you complain about speed they will say 'but you are downloading too much and should move to this package'

It's UNCAPPED people for pete's sake!! Shape and throttle your so called uncapped service to moer and gone and still have the audacity to call it true uncapped!! Getting more and more fed up with this highway robbery these ISP's get away with each day! It would have been one thing if I did download 24/7 but thing is I don't! I want to be able to use my service I pay for upto at least the FUP limit without having to content with 50% and less linespeeds all the time!! It's a blerrie farce I tell you!

Highway robbery? Have you seen what people are pulling on their cheaper option? I think the farce is people expecting mweb to let them download the internet at full speed for cheap.

Apart from the seacom problems the cheap mweb uncapped has been running full speed for me, are you talking about not being able to pull 1tb a month on pirated stuff? Are you upset they limit the pirate networks during the day?

Read my post again!!!

I said I should at least be able to get what I paid for upto the FUP limit!!! After that they can start doing all kinds of funky stuff!!

Download the internet?!? Geez bru, I think I did 150GB last month on the novelty oof uncapped, this month and after I should not pass 100GB. The FUP is 200GB correct? Why would someone have ANYTHING to say to me if I'm still under that?!?

I just want to be able to use my line at capacity when I need to, if I'm still @ less than 200GB so FARKING WHAT?!?!?!? At the moment I have some sort of degraded 512ish to sometimes a 1meg line. Not good enough!!!

Heard some peeps are struggling, drop us a speedtest dude. They have no FUP. Why you seem so hostile, you are very defensive after some very laid back questions? why is that?

I'm sorry but R2400 for uncapped ADSL is VERY EXPENSIVE. That's a lot of money. R899 is already expensive. That's a premium of R1500 or roughly 5 Blurays per month.

I do apologize but I do not like being labeled my strange people who do not know me!! If I want to download the internet I have a 65MB line at varsity that I can abuse to hell in gone if need be!

My beef is purely that I have a 4MB line and when I need to download a file for whatever reason I can do say without waiting hours for it. I did not realize they scrapped the FUP. There was one in the beginning and I feel there should be one. When a user is not passing the FUP he should be able to use his line to the full extend for normal internet usage. P2P and download sites like RS I have not problem in them shaping access to!!! I do have a problem when with normal use only I can utilize at most 50% of my line capacity.

Oic you don't get full speed on http downloads? I never said 2k was not expensive, i was commenting on calling the 539 mweb uncapped a farce. For me at least it runs sweet all the time unless seacom is acting up. I also thought rogue mean't mweb should allow us to download anything all the time until a certain point.

Thats not what I'm experiencing... you should get it checked out. Anyway, if you are that concerned, why not go for this unshaped service to download at your max speed no matter what you're doing?

Maybe asking mweb to reset the account, Could also be your exchange overload perhaps. Not sure why you are only get like 1.5 meg seems odd. Gooi us a speed test.

Please guys, read my posts and let those comprehension tests you did at school kick in :D Why do I need to pay R2000+ for a service where I download a 100MB file here, a 50MB file there etc etc? I simply want linespeed when doing so. If I was a heavy user doing it 24/7 and already did 200GB+ then fair enough but until then I want that file here in 20min, not 40 or 1 hour, not 2. See where I'm going?!?!?

Everything was dandy until the seacom fiasco, after that I have yet to see more than 200KB/s on anything I do on the net.

The 200GB FUP was originally only brought to the table by Afrihost, it never had anything to do with Mweb. I really do think that you might be encountering something faulty on your line since there are people who have no problem with the Mweb connection.

It is completely understandable being upset with your current internet experience, I would surely be too if I only have 50% or less capacity. Although what I would like to confirm is if you're unhappy with that fact that torrents/RS/newsgroups etc is slow during office hours and only speeds up at night or if you're upset that your line is actually physically slow all the time?

If it is option one I would recommend looking at Afrihost (although personally I'm not a fan) since they work more according to the way you're thinking. As long as you stay under their usage limit your speeds should remain pretty stable. And since you're only going to do about 100GB it seems like the option for you.

It seems you've tried Mweb now and to my thinking there should be no problem with experiencing something else?

Speedtest!!!!!!!! www.speedtest.net

Ya good point vonnii sounds like afrihost would be perfect for him.

Don't feed the troll.

People complaining bitterly about shaped internet should be ignored. Just two months ago, there was no such thing at that price. We've only been waiting fifteen years for shaped uncapped and now when we get it, we get idiots who find something to complain about. Shame.

This package seems like exactly what gamers would want, right? Earlier last month MWEB said categorically that the shaped product was not ideal for gaming, so this seems like the next best thing, is it not? How is this different from Express+ (apart from the rolling threshold)?

This product should offer you better online gaming experience then the standard Mweb uncapped account. Although you will still content for bandwidth on the network with the downloaders, but I imagine to a much lesser degree then with the shaped capped accounts.

I would say a 3GB capped unshaped account so do for a month of gaming and give you the best speeds.

As far as I know the Axxess Express+ accounts are unshaped which should give you an overall better experience. Although you might still experience some latencies due to those pesky downloaders.

Therefore I would stick with a simple capped account for gaming.

In all honesty I would keep a MWEB 4Mbit uncapped shaped for downloading and keep a second 2-3GB UNSHAPED capped for games. R1500 extra PM is a lot of money - R200 odd for a 2-3GB shaped account is R1300 saved - which is 1-2 XBOX/PS3 games per month.
