Psychology. Add the words "Titanium", "Platinum" or "Express" and maybe a few "+" or an "addict" or two and people will think they've touched Venus. Plain old vanilla uncapped :) is good.
 
What type of pings are you getting Killadoob? I haven't tried gaming much on this connection, so would really appreciate some feedback? :)

At one time i was getting like 120-160 average on Saix, mweb and IS, logged a fault with telkom and back to normal now.

I only game on sgs so i used that for a ping test :D. Before uncapped i got 9ms but ya not going to complain about 4ms :D.

I think you're making a mistake. We have all used Telkom, WebAfrica, Axxess etc ALL SHAPED. What is new, is the MWEB SUPERSHAPED service, which they call SHAPED.
Do you see the difference?

You signed up for a SHAPED uncapped account. Deal with it, it was like that from the start. If you want something different, buy something different.

On the CHEAP uncapped options. They should put in FUP limits, but completely unshaped. Lets say 80GB on 384, 120GB on 512 and 500GB on a 4meg line. Then after that shape us to hell.(Not throttle)

Now that, I would accept as a minimum for a CHEAP uncapped account.
 
I am seriously hoping the 'Internet Addict' and the 'Shaped' accounts come together, have a baby and they call it 'After-hour Addict' which is UNshaped from 8pm to 7am (and all weekend) and then sell that for R900 data only. I mean, honestly, I hardly use the internet (at home) from 7am to 6pm so I don't mind being shaped at all during the day. But come 23:00 I don't want to see that my newsleecher is suffering at a dismal 150kB/s and the same thing over weekends. Granted, I get full speed from 3am to 6am but what about the other 21 hours? Just an idea...I mean the Express+ account is R999 for the 384 and then you get throttled too! This way you get your 4Mbps irrespective of time of day but you are limited to priority protocols during the day and anything you want during the evenings. Would someone be willing to back me up on this if ask MWEB nicely?

Hallelujah!! I would even venture to say something like 200 - 300GB on the 4MB but your reasoning is sound!
 
Bugger... why not give a bolt on option for a fixed ip or two on the normal uncapped accounts?

There is no chance of MWeb offering unshaped between 7pm and midnight. The concept of 'off-peak' is actually a very busy period for home ADSL users, who now make up most of the traffic on the network.

If you look at a typical traffic graph (JINX or TENET-SEACOM), the only time that the network is not congested on weekdays is between midnight and 6am:

I am paying R549 monthly for my Screamer 384 WiMAX uncapped connection which is just the same as what MWeb are offering here plus they give me a fixed static public IP and I don't have to pay the Telkom ADSL line and connection fees.
I think you can also then pay for additional fixed IP's

If you are a WOW addict like me then I can recommend them. I get sub 200ms latency in game to Europe servers (Genjuros).
 
I'd rather have my nuts stapled to the ceiling than go back to Screamer. They were that bad. I'm just a bit peeved that MWEB considers selling this new Gamers package at the same price as Business, without IMO the benefits.
 
Mweb is starting to make Afrihost look like the good guy again, at least they are transparent about their shaping and throttling policies. I feel like I was duped into signing up with Mweb as a result of the good reports from users for April.

It removes incentive for them to improve the regular package which they've actually deliberately spoiled for gamers .

Mweb: ok, everyones moaning, cant fix it, lets launch unshaped, and charge lots :D

SO what now? we keep jumping to pricier packages until we get the functionality we pay for?
Whats after unshaped uncapped? A free bowl of kornflakes every morning?
