I hope it's ok to ask for advice here:

So I have a quote from a Carb member and am looking to validate the proposed supply and installation.
We have 4 buildings in fairly close proximity to each other. The internet is supplied through Fiber at the main building located on a corner site.
The other 3 buildings are over the road and the furthest from the main building is maybe 45 meters away.

1 X Ubiquiti 5GHz AirMax AC LiteAP 16dBi
Sector LAP‐120

3 X Ubiquiti 5GHz airMAX LiteBeam AC Gen2
23dBi CPE LBE‐5AC‐GEN2

Equipment already on hand:

1 X DGS - 1210 - 28 Managed Switch
1 X DGS - 1024D Gigabit Switch
3 X Ubiquiti AC Lite AP
1 X MicroTik 3011 Gigabit Routerboard

The installation of the above and the portioning of QOS for the telephones is to be included. Also the setup and programming of all devices.
We have 200/200 Fiber through Vumatel on a month to month basis.

We have IP phones hosted offsite and they are a mix of LAN and Wi-Fi phones through a YeaLink SB.
There are around 45 users with laptops, computers and cell phones that will need to connect to the network across the 4 buildings.

So, I am asking the advice of network professionals and need to know if the Sector and other Ubiquiti noted above are suitable for the intended purpose.

You'll need to speak to ICASA, you cannot cross ERFS without a license as far as I'm aware.

Asking advice on the forum is perfectly fine.
The quoted parts look alright for the intended purpose. My only concern is, this being Roodepoort, there is likely to be substantial existing wireless congestion.

I don't do this professionally, but my rule of thumb is to have WiFi only for laptops and cellphones, with everything else being on hard-line as far as possible. The more you have on wireless, the harder it becomes to diagnose where problems lie.

If it were me doing this, I would prefer to get 2x LiteBeams or NanoBeams and create a single, low power point-to-point link from the main building across the road to the corner grey building. I would then run cabling along the Mimosa boundary wall and up the left wall to the other two buildings. Fibre optic solutions are affordable enough now for this.

I don't see the point in bothering asking ICASA. As with anything government, putting yourself on a list just opens you up to harassment. 5GHz is a non licensed frequency.

Thank you for your advice. I would like to engage further with you if possible.
Will send DM with my contact details.

No license necessary here as its all internal use. If the 3 other buildings were not his company and he charged them monthly for sharing his Internet then he would need a license.

Thank you for clearing this up. It was a concern.

For it to be legal though you have to apply for the PECNS license exemption though.
