As a very satisfied E90 user since August 2007 I looked forward to the N97 as my next upgrade ... but I'm getting cold feet on this one now ...
Crappy CPU
Crappy touch screen
Crappy keyboard
etc ...
The review on Boy Genius Report: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/06/12/nokia-n97-review/
thats just 1 person reviewing the phone. He is a bit harsh on the keyboard, and he is comparing the screen to the iphones capacitive screen. The CPU could be more inline with other market trends like HTC. But there is no need for it as this is still the S60 symbian OS. This phone is very much suited for media. I currently have an HTC touch diamond, and i think it is awesome.
The only problems I get from it is:
1) on screen keyboard (resolved with N97)
2) storage space (4gb is just useless... either make it small or incredibly large, so that is resolved with the n97)
3) battery life (although n97 apparently doesnt boast the duration of an e71, it has the same battery and apparently lasts a while).
4) complexity of some of its menu's, which I will only be able to compare when i get my N97 on Saturday
Any other software related issue I can just download the relevant application. From Tomtom to Twitter it is all available out there. Even with my HTC I have cooked so many other ROM's onto it in the past 9months that I have had the phone and from what it looks like and operates at the moment is completely different to the stock ROM.
If there are any issues with the N97 freezing, or hanging, because of its CPU then im sure they will resolve that in the next month or two with firmware updates. After all, it is their flagship model, and i dont think they are intending on releasing something that nobody likes.
I read that whole review and I say he was being too harsh... The N97 is a multimedia smartphone, it certainly isnt an HTC touch pro2.
