I know it is big, but how big i am not so sure. My thought was really that there is other sources to offset these products than to create a website just for it.

That thread was pretty big. Anyway, I expect cheap prices, always in stock, free shipping, good support, nice looking site i.e. newegg. :D But we're not getting that in SA any time soon. :/

Hi.

The problem with some of those doesn't lie with the store owner such as myself, but with the other companies ... Good looking website ... I will have that soon ... I've already agreed on part of the design with my designer ... and it looks pretty good, but logical :)
Good support ... I'm already cleared on that ... although at the moment, its just myself for support, but that will increase as the site grows ... cheap prices ... that will be sorted ... well mostly ... some other places get cheaper costs than I do for some stuff ... just don't look at the pricing on my site now ... might scare you :p ... shipping ... when my site grows, I will offer free shipping over a certain value ... the only thing I won't be able to offer is credit card support ... well not at the prices I will be selling anyway.
Stock situation ... as an online shop and someone with VERY small capital, I can't afford to keep in stock, and I wish there was a way I could tie up with my suppliers systems, but there isn't unfortunately ... unless I go for improweb which is a waste of time and money ... however the advantage with my site will be that because I only accept cash and EFT, that once the order is placed, you can wait for a stock confirmation before paying ... which will be what I'm going to implement.

Regards

Itai

Pico Computertech ???

I also seem to have had the miss fortune to have bought a wow serial key almost 10 days ago and only to find out that nothing has come from it. All the cell numbers given are off line and when it comes to emails from him nothing happens even when he states so clearly it is the prefer'd response.
I now would like to ask how do i ether get my key or money back. The sad thing of all of this is i used my last money to pay for that key and now i cant even lick my wounds and go find it some where else. Can some one please help me i beg you all. jacqueseolivier@yahoo.com

Mmm... Does anyone know for sure if this guy has ditched or not?

I ordered 2 game cards from him... Paid for both... he sent me one.. and nothing after that. His Cell Number is not being answered, and he doesn't reply to e-mails.

Anyone have any information? I placed my order with him and paid at the beginning of December.

Ok, only saw page 2 of this thread now.

My question now changes: Anyone in Pretoria that can pay this guy a visit? Seems there's a couple of people on this thread that might want to talk with him...

Why on earth is anything priced R250.02????

I HATE paying in cents...
It's stupid!
I'd rather just pay R251.

That Makwassie #405 is of a bigger concern to me than the gmail address. IIRC, that is a Tuks Residence ...

As seen from earlier in this thread, this shop is obviously a -student- who decided to ran a store from his little dorm room. He probably flunked/graduated and just left everything as is. Happens all the time in a student environment for extra cash, usually they keep this kind of "business" between students and their buddies...

The real question is, how was payment processed? Is it CC or deposit? I'm sure that's where you should start in tracking the person down, blacklist accounts/reverse payments etc etc.....

Ok... an update to this thread.

I've managed to get hold of Hugo and he's sorted my order out. Seems as though when he went away, someone was supposed to take the shop down, but never did. Apparently, he's been attending to the issues and seems to be on top of things now...

I've had my order sorted out and received the key I was waiting for, so I'm good.

Weird

What a weird story...! Things like this give ecommerce in SA a bad name.

Just on an earlier post:

... unless I go for improweb which is a waste of time and money ...

Why do you say it's a waste of time and money? I haven't looked at it in detail, but I thought they had a good product?

I don't think their fees are substantiated ... R5000 for a site ... I suppose reasonable, but their solution isn't very customizable. The nice thing is the products are already on the system and pics and descriptions and stuff ... what I don't like is that all improweb stores end up selling the same stuff at similar pricing, as far as I can see ... they all have a fairly similar design ... I can easily spot out an improweb store. You share reviews with other users ... which I think is cheap ... I personally thing if you are going to have an online store you need to be unique ... I just had Digital Addiction redesigned with osCommerce in March ... but I am already looking at another solution being Magento ... it seems it will be a lot more buyer friendly than osCommerce.
I've also run into many ASP errors with the improweb stores ... and they all shared the same error ... not sure if this was corrected though.
Improweb I think is more for people who want to sell online, but don't really want to take part in the business ... if I am going to run a business, it must be done my way which means going into all the fine details.
A few of the suppliers I can see that use improweb ... Sahara (I think), Esquire, Sonic Informed ... and similar suppliers ... Rectron and Frontosa and Axiz don't make use of them ... or not that I know of ... and these are the main suppliers of most online stores AFAIK.
There is a banner that says improweb clients made R5m combined sales in their first year ... how many clients??? 10 perhaps ... more? I know stores that did half that on their own ... and myself ... I should reach 1/5 of that by the end of this financial year, but quite possibly more.
IMO if you're dedicated, you will be better off going on your own, if you aren't dedicated ... use them.
I'm dedicated!!
