Hi,

I would like to find out does openserve have an plan to provide speeds higher then 500mbps?

Currently octotel has made the 2.5gbs and 5gbs packages available for FTTH through selected ISPs.

I know PPPoE has some overhead and thus needs more cpu processing power but I would like to see a 1gbps line speed from them. If they have an issue with PPPoE why do they not just switch over to DCHP for their higher speeds?

I know it just not one click and then it everything works but they can atleast start making changes and do a slow implementation.

Will they ever switch over from PPPoE to DHCP?

If they do switch over to DHCP it would even make it easier for ISPs to provide IPv6 for their customers.

Hi, PPPoE has nothing to do with it. Openserve actually uses a LNS type setup which allows customers to use multiple ISPs which is a nice to have.

They say they only offer 500Mbps to "protect" their network, which doesnt really make sense.

Hi, yes currently have 2 different ISPs on the same ONT active.

Hopefully they step up their game because almost all FNOs provide gigabit speed or they can atleast provide something like 800/800.

Openserve is the only FNO where I live so it is either openserve fibre or wireless internet.

According to this article Openserve is planning to launch 1Gbps fibre in 2026. That was 2months ago. Also planning to get 1Gbps fibre, have 500mbps now, but it might take longer then expected.
Hopefully soon.

Openserve has a 1Gbps line, and it's offered as FFTR. Unfortunately, as an ISP, we do not offer it at this stage.

That's why I think Openserve is launching 1Gbps FTTH because not all ISP's offer FTTR. And fibre to the room is also crazy expensive.

Ye, that's definitely not an excuse. Octotel uses PPPOE for their multi-gig pacakges.
