I know this could be discussed in the News section, but I'd like to know what you guys think about these packages.

Personally I hope this isn't their idea of an upgrade, this is simply giving more options, and extending the 500mb bonus to all subscribers, which causes confusion with their packages. They now have a new 2.5Gig package, which is actually a 2 gig package seeing as you get an extra 500mb either way. The 3 Gig is now 3.5, but they don't even advertise it that way, so their packages seem even worse off?

Why didn't they just completely restructure things to include the 500mb bonus?

Besides 500mb there is no improvement for me, and probably for most others.

So is there any real improvement coming, or was this it?

Im guessing its actually a 2 gig package with 500 extra. Otherwise the price would make the 3.5Gig package completely stupid..(oh wait...its iburst)

So then why aren't they calling the 3GB packages 3.5GB, or are they?

Well the naming isn't that important its more the fact that they have done nothing

Seriously, if making the 500mb bonus universal is their only offering then its just not enough.

VERY far from enough... Vodacom is coming in at almost almost double the speed for less... and if the best they can do is throw a WHOPPING 500mb my way then yeah, think i'll be switching too...

EHV, where is the link to these so-called new packages?

Whatever their "watch this space" idea of useful increases for the customers benefit is or will be you can be sure it will be a flop as the iBurst marketing team is as useless as the rest of the bunch.

Right now I don't care for anything else from them EXCEPT A STABLE SYSTEM THE WAY IT"S SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!

Link added, it was from a MyADSL article, which came from iBurst themselves obviously.

Its actually funny in a sad way, this was really their idea of an improved service that they even told a forumite to watch out for?

Yes, but there is no difference, they just changed the name. You won't really be moved to anything.

You've got that right, there is no improvement for existing customers, next they'll try hard capping us all and thats the day I cancel without question as it's one of the few things thats keeping me with iBurst.

Instead of trying to fool us "how lucky we are" why don't they rather just get the existing system working properly, that alone will stop me from been negative about them even though I still feel we pay too much for what we receive.

Is this the "watch this space"? Must be an April fools joke. It's too funny not to be.

We need to get a greater amount of existing iBurst customers on this forum, AND THEY NEED TO POST so that we can put greater pressure on this greedy/incompetent ISP and force them to give us a better service or go bust.

These packages are not enough. Both VC and MTN will "upgrade" the HSDPA offering to 3.6Mb/s within the next few months and possibly to 7.2Mb/s within a year, depending on how quick they are to install the necessary backbone network infrastructure. When Neotel eventually provides broadband to the retail market, they will compete head on with iBurst in fixed wireless broadband, but with better infrastructure, backbone and deeper pockets I dont see how iBurst will be able to compete, except maybe if they actually launch their WiMax network and get a large cash injection from somewhere.

ha! This has got to be a joke right?

So the only difference is that ill receive 200 megs extra? There's gotta be a typing error there, how could the 'Play' subs get 500 and the 'Pro' get 200MB?

Geez, its so depressing.

A new name, and some new "interpolated" packages.

But nothing actually new at all.

Wow. Bring out pointless packages while your entire Cape Town system is screwed and say you are goind great. What a load a s*it.

Depressing but the sort of thing expected, giving it a "new face" and hoping everyone would fall for it.

Well iBurst the latest attempt did not work........so try again......or better still lay your cards on the table as to what changes we could choose from and give us a choice......hold a survey of what you would be willing to give us and let us choose as to which card we would like to have.

That is a error, where'd you see that?

Oh right it's in the article, ja just a typo. These extras aren't even new either, just for moth to month users as well now.

As far as I can remember, it was the same tactic that Sentech used years ago and they came up with the attitude of: Take it or leave it - and look what happened to them. i would love to see a survey of who is on what package an who will stay or go. iBurst for one will never do a survey among their users on what they can offer to see what the users think about their offer. Why the new PLAy and PRO packages. Is it just a way to pull the wool over the eyes of their users?
