New packages from iBurst

Ai, just got an announcement email from iburst...

vodacom drops prices by 61%, giving us twice the speed for less that iburst costs and the absolute best they can do is 500mb extra....

disgusting.... really and truly disgusting....

I wouldn't really call HSDPA twice the speed of iBurst, I've seen that around a lot lately.

HSDPA is theoretically max 1.8mbps but I don't think it is even possible to get that on the network at all. iBurst can at least optimally reach 1mb and does for quite a few users. Vodacom also still isn't cheaper than iBurst. They might have shown much more willingness with their price drops, but a 3 gig package is still more expensive, and no soft cap. Only 2GB and 1GB packages are possibly cheaper depending on how you value your softcap.

Not like theres much to say for iBurst lately, but people seem to exaggerate whatever the new best thing out there is, a few weeks ago everyone would have compared this to MTN's 2 Gig promotion.

New rates

I've been with iBurst since the pre-official-launch rollout, paying R699 for the G3 package, which now becomes a pro(stitute) package.

I'm sure a lot of iBurst subscribers are on this package, are we all still paying R699.00, or am i the only sucker , now that the price has been reduced to R599.00? I bought my modem outright, not built into a payment plan.
When did the price reduction come into effect?
Thanks.

Thanks

Do you know if they reduced the prices for current subscribers to the new rates?

Snotface, I had to go in to Iburst myself and threaten them that if they didnt lower my contract price (it was paid up) I would take action. I am now paying R599

That really is acting in bad faith on their part. Once your 24 month contract expires and you continue to use their service by default they should move you to a month to month contract. And seeing as you have paid off the modem, the debit order should move to whatever the m2m going rate is.

As for you Snotface, it is even worse if you have always been on a m2m and they continued to leave you on R699pm.

Hmm

Thanks.
I guess i will have to keep contacting them. Sent them one mail already, no response.
Unfortuantely, i don't really have an option to switch to Telkom, I'm in Hurlingham, Sadnton, but the phone line is too bad for ADSL. The best i can do is try and get my best value for money out of these blood suckers.

Dear Customer,

We are pleased to inform you that as of 1 April, we will be allocating a further
1000MB of data to you every month, at no extra cost. You'll be pleased to know
that the additional data allocation coupled with Data Carry-Over effectively
makes iBurst the most cost-effective broadband provider in South Africa.

In addition, as of 1 April, we will be introducing a brand new range of package
names and your package will be renamed as follows:

Old name New name Total Data

G1 Pro Novice 2500MB

We are working hard to keep improving our service to you and to provide you with
more value-for-money.

Warm regards,
The iBurst Team

Not going to complain... just NEVER EVER going to top up again!!!

SO what does this mean? Their 1GB package is now the same as their new 2GB package, or the 1GB people have been moved up to 2GB?

That's a bit unfair, you pay even less for those 1GB packages in any case.. well great for you guys, I might downgrade that 1GB to save R210 :p

Thanks.

best bet take a drive to their office in sandton and bitch/moan/and break a couple knee caps so they'll write you a check for your refund... don't opt for the credit option as you'll never see that money ever again!

Can one of your guys who posted that please clarify.

Do the 1G account now get 1.5GB extra? I know this is exactly what it says in the email... but that makes no sense, its insane, the 1G contract price is only R389, very good value. I mean why would anyone sign up for their 3G or 2G service?

Who knows why they do anything since the 9G package also only got 500mb, maybe someone from iBurst would like to clarify this strange thinking of theirs.:rolleyes:

Instead it looks something like this:

G1 = 2500 R469 or R389
G3 = 3500 R599
G9 = 9500 R .. Too much, I don't even know. R1099 I think..

Your proposal looks good, makes the price difference between G1 and G3 make sense.
