The FX-6300 and the 970 Gaming for roughly the price of a Core i5-4690K seems like a great idea to me.

Drop 4Gig ram?
I'm still trying to a find a game that actually uses it, and I have many games on my computer atm, any recommendations?

But FX6300 not the worse choice when it comes to online retail pricing.

Yes to the warranty being the chief factor. Its a decent drive and very reliable. If you can do with the SSD just being the boot drive and hosting a few programs and not too many games, then a 128GB drive is quite fine. Corsair's LX 120GB, Crucial's BX100/MX100, Transcend SSD370 128GB and the OCZ Arc 120GB are all good drives that are usually under a grand.

With such a mall difference in price between 128GB drives and 256GB drives, it makes no sense to get a 128GB drive.

Seasonic make the best power supplies in the world. I will choose them every time.

Nah, I've managed to use all of my 4GB before (not gaming) so would prefer 8GB.

I know bf4 multiplayer is a ram hog and will struggle on 4gig ram. Other games should be fine

I would throw or giveaway everything pata at this point.
Top board not meant for overclocking k series though, but it has that rare usb 3.0 header and a decent amount of usb ports at the back.

Looks like it :D

Pretty sure I can throw in a few hundred more. Current case might work but has no front usb3 & it might run hot, gpu will be a tight fit as well seeing as there's only 280mm available.

The Galac GTX960 (271mm) squeaks into your case. so R2k for PSU and HDD? Can be done.

Did some measurements & the cpu cooler will butt right up to the psu intake. Space is very tight, ventilation & cable management is gonna be bad. Gonna need a case...
 
Ok gonna order tonight but I need a case & psu.

With the fx-6300 ([email protected]), gtx960 & 3xhdd will a 450w psu be sufficient? Single or dual 12v rails? need 2x4 (8pin) cpu & 6+2 (8pin)gpu connectors.

Case ~R600 with space for a Zalman CNPS10X Optima, no windows, leds or any bling, like simple looks.
