looks like a good deal to me - it's average build but for not bad for that price....

You can play COD 4 with this pc with a bit of lag. So should work for your son.

They all start with older games and then they want to play Crysis ETC and then you have to buy a video card.Thats where it starts and never stops.

That is a good IGP for MOHAA and other older 3D games, but these days you can get boards with Radeon 3200 IGPs for below R700 - plus you can oveclock the IGP to Radeon 3300~3400 speeds.

If you can spend a little more on your board you will end up with a Radeon 4200 board (ATI 785 chipset) and that will really fly.

Thats what they say you can play on this. IMO adding a better graphix card will prolong the life of this pc

aha, see it now, bit slow. Wonder if Medal of Honor - Pacific Assault can be regarded as "light hearted".

Yeah, I hear you! He started on "supercow" not long ago, now its moh and farcry! I'm hiding the crysis dvd.

should be but when he wants to play games his mates at school is plying his pc is gonna struggle

6150 isn't powerful enough to play anything. Spend a little more to get a gpu.

at least a 8000gt or better (waits for ati fan boys to moan and groan)

Thanks guys, you must understand I am already over budget. Yeah, I know.

I was considering this pc at R1999:
http://www.evetech.co.za/Computer-systems/evetech-amd-sempron-home-office-value-pc-31.aspx

I have an old 17" crt which I will use in the meantime.

Now, R1999 doesnt sound like too much money for a brand new pc. So the guy at evetech mailed me back and said I should rather consider the amd for R2599, hence my question on here.

Any other/better deal online which you can suggest for around R2500?

For cheap(er) gaming get your son some of the classic games going for a song at BTGames.

Well i think that build is really pretty good quality for the money. Maybe he can buy himself a graphics card sometime later.
