Yes. To start with the GT240 uses GDDR5 memory and the 9400GT uses either GDDR2 or 3 memory.

awesome, will it be ok for some basic HD video editing(running an i7, 920, 6gbs ram,) only have 1000 to spend on the vga

What do you guys think of the following. Not going to play a lot of games but will play like once in a month

MOBO: MSI P55-H55-G43
Graphics card: MSI N240GT 1GB DDR5
CPU: i5 760 2.8Ghz
Memory: Apacer 4GB DDR3 1333
HDD: WD caviar Blue 640GB
optical: LG DVD writer
Screen: LG 23" LED screen
Speakers: Logitech Z323
Case: HAF 922

TOTAL is R9475. anything else to consider. budget is R10k but if lower it will be a plus

Mainly I'll be running 1-2+ vmware operating systems, Maybe some CCTV system, playing games like once every month or 2, viewing and editing photos, must be INTEL, also must be quiet.

rather go i5 750 and a cm hyper 212 cooler. And give the i5 a slight over clock. Will most prob be cheaper than the 760 and quieter.

I can't get the I5 750 anymore but the i5 760 is the same price or a little cheaper as the i5 750 a month back

I'm buying from wholesalers (pinnacle) they don't have the i5 750 on the pricelist anymore
