no GPU? :p

Could go with:
E2180, MSI G31M2, 2GB DDR2-800, 250GB HDD, Gigabyte M1 case/combo and save R3000... although what will the PC be used for?

Get a GPU atleast, even if its a cheap R300 one, still beats onboard.

For R6000 you can get a pretty good pc.

Would rather go for a E21** series cpu and add the 500 and the difference from the cpu to the cost of a decent psu (none mentioned)

All of these peeps have forgotten that TIA.

Eskom is running rampant. Although they have slowed down for now they WILL return to their old ways ... thus ... with the last R500 ... buy a UPS, bru. Otherwise you'll lose that motherboard and data on the HDD, chop-chop.

This is also a great point, had 2 hours of "power failure" aka loadshedding today

You reckon? I have never lost any equipment to load-shedding and it has happened a lot here over the years :(
