is this a good board?

Asus P5KPL-CM Intel G31

for R745?
 
do you think a 9800gt card will fit on this board? (heatsinks in the way???)
 
fooz- what GPU you got? I have a 939 3500+ with a 3870 Xt- seems to run ok.

Basically, the whole old hardware thing can still be made to work- just something to keep in mind if worried about i7

Your cpu is bottlenecking your gfx card.
 
I know. Am saving/pondering the benefits of waiting till the i7 causes other cpus to drop.

Also, by how much exactly is it being bottle necked? CPU is overclocked to 2,75 (up from 2,2). Probably doesn't help much:)

XFX 7800 GTX... it works awesome.
Keep in mind.. for Dota, and most popular fun multiplayer games. It's great.

I really just can't find a sensible reason to upgrade. If you know your way around optimizing your OS, and safe overclocking... You can go a long way on hardware. This reminds me... I need a new cooling solution. :rolleyes:

I'd say quite a bit.

You can get a 2.4Ghz tricore + mobo for R2500.
 
That's what I would prefer, actually. The tricores do not put out as much heat as the quads, yet are better than the duals. Three is a pretty good compromise. Not too sure how many apps/games etc are multithreaded now anyway.

Pokkel- what's your price on the gfx? My 3870xt OC ed was R1600.00

*EDIT* SORRY! Read top of last page- it's R1800.00

Um, GTAIV PC has a tri core as the recommended processor. It's only gonna get more prevalent.
 
would you say a 4850 for R1500 is better than the 9800gt?
