New Rain External Firmware

Hi @Kiemo ,

I don't know if there has been firmware updates or what not, but I cannot access the 5G router - I keep on getting the following error:

This site can’t be reached

192.168.8.1 refused to connect.

Try:
  • Checking the connection
  • Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Above is with Chrome, and below is with Firefox:

Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.8.1.

I have also tried to "reset" the router through the pinhole but that does not do anything.
Try trying the https:// Manually then your 192.168.8.1

then see

Hi there,

Nope, tried that and all that I can think of last night...
Seems router is a half-dud... lolz

Cant be the router … are you connected what’s your speeds if it’s all good but can’t log into the router … it’s the webpage maybe

Yes they are rolling out the update in batches I was just one of the first I think

This is foe the outdoor unit, I’m sure the indoor one might also let you do this

But I have the Q2 inside the house
From the old VIP install phase
My router updated this morning. Just saw the new login screen now

Yeah it was terrible but Ive been working on it with Rain and its alot better now. The new update is something to get used to
What’s the new update doing ? I mean I still need to see but that’s only tomorrow

I can't lock on to a tower. I can't choose SA. You just don't seem to have as much control over your connection either which is frustrating

ok i will put my update on hold.
Ok, after a lot of tweaking and playing around my connection now is actually a lot better than what it was before the update. I don't really like the new graphical interface but my connection is cruising so clearly they've made a few fixes for stability and speed. Ive just left it on auto with everything and so far so good, if there are any changes in my connection then I'll start trying to lock to SA and onto the tower etc but for now I'm quite happy

speed and latency better?

Actually alot better bud. I'm getting 300 DL and 160 Ul with about 12ms latency with minimal jitter

Mine is the same as before, can’t say I’m noticing much difference, although my gf uses it mostly so will check with her.
The family seems to be more active using the internet than what we do …

The major difference with mine is the stability now. I've always had great speed but it fluctuated and started dropping in the mornings. I've been running a continuous test today and no downtime at all which is great

Morning, just an update on my router setup and connection.

I have not had any loss of connection since Friday or a drop in speed. My latency is stable at about 12ms on average with minimal jitter and my DL is constant 250mbps +. Seems the update has made a difference indeed
