Installed some L.S.P light units around 1 yr ago ,they last about 6 to 8 hours under normal use ie power failures ,not loadshedding related .the colour is around 7600K ,so poking around in your eyeball under them while looking for something scratching it ,isnt an option.total lumens under battery power is 100 lumens .under mains power is around 500 lumens .after 4 to 5 hours they go dimmer but do stay on for ages after that .for a kids nightlight ideal ,if you put more than say 2 on a circuit we found you cant turn them off during a power failure ,it seems they excite each other too much if in a group .

What is a recommended good bulb at the moment?
looking for something bright....for 2-3 hours
(I do have an inverter and a lamp in the lounge but a bulb for the other rooms/bathroom

currently have a few bulbs but they are not very strong and had them for a long time

Eagle Lighting or Aurora.
 
Does anyone know some rechargeable bulbs stay on after you switch off power to them(probably cos the battery inside is charged) and then when you need them to work they dont come on during loadshedding when the switch is turned on?

Make sure they are plugged in to the grid, else they won't come on.

Aurora are kuk for their name brand. I got two and they're quite dim and dead white. I also have some Switch Digital bulbs which seem to have a more warm light when under battery.
 
Found a very nice looking fancy blue, white and gold original Phillips battery in my cheap no name brand rechargeable lightbulb
 
Best emergency light is still a cellphone torch. Enough light so you can see in an area a few meters big like a bedroom etc. Plus, loadshedding won't kill it cause they charge quickly and rarely get down to 60% charge left even after a 4hour loadshed.

My old Nokia1 operates permanently now on it's face down with it's led lighting up the area around it.

What? They are some of the best ones I've used to date and I have tried MANY different brands. A a lot of reviews on takealot also disagrees with you. Maybe you didn't charge it long enough.

Edit: are you complaining about the color temperature when they operate form battery?

I bet these will outlast the Switched when both are fully charged. Test it.

I saw some Phillips rechargeable bulps at Eagle Lighting. They are 7w at around R180.
