New rules for Current Affairs forum

I think we need another in the sports section, specifically for disgruntled Protea's supporters.
That is until we win the World Cup.

Thank you rpm.
Can we have a rule to ban cheerleading and one line answers like they do in Prophecy forum's Coffee Table section?
If only there were a system that automatically deletes posts that contain less than say, x characters. No more +1'ing.

Well the Prophecy forum has quite a few features that would work well here, infraction systems and Shoutbox being the most prominent. I don't see why they can't be implemented seeing as it's running the same software.

I, for one, welcome the new rule.
However my sockpuppets are sounding like the ones from Willie Wallie, only more disappointed. "oh no, oh NO, OH NO!"

Sent form my PC using my keyboard with a little help from my mouse.

I still think registration, maybe for CA section should use a cellphone number and then you use a code to enter that number.

That's a bit much for an OT section on a broadband forum, I think.

I think it's an excellent idea.

I know it has been suggested many times before for PD & classifieds: Instead of a you don't have permission to enter/post either also write the requirements or create a locked thread & also link that there so the people can read the requirements.

& for those whining about where to post then:

PC hardware,software
ADSL, 3G
Games
Health & ...
Off Topic threads

(there's your cheese)

Sigh, rule doesn't just punishes trolls, it punishes others who don't meet the criteria, who no have to wait out the remainder of their 3 months (Person in question has more than 50 posts already, most of them in this section).

How are these others you mention "punished" exactly by a waiting period that aims to integrate people into an online broadband community?

My heart pumps lumpy custard for these others you mention who are physically tortured and tormented with their human rights and dignity being violated by the measures to keep trolls out

Actually the guy doesn't feel his human rights or dignity has been violated. Since he started posting he has made some insightful comments into the CA section. He wishes to carry on contributing to this community and he finds out he now cannot contribute for some time, all so that this community can stay "strong" and maintain some respect?

Let's be honest here, you don't want trolls, if there were better ways of keeping them out you would do it. Those who aren't trolls must now wait because of the actions of trolls and others. In the meantime good contributions are not made as well as some bad being kept out.

It's a 2 way street. What about those that really want access early applying for it specifically and we give the mods complete discretion who gets a "special" allowance or not?

In that way people who have made some good posts but perhaps not been here for 3 months can continue to contribute as they are certainly not trolling, or people who have been here longer but made less posts (And not trolled) also don't have to wait.

In summary: If our aim is to keep out trolls, why not give the non-trolls access? Seems logical to me.
