New SA mobile data prices compared

Mtn network is the worst, and they still have the audacity to raise prices.

These are base prices and excludes any promotions that are currently running.....

One can easily mistake to say MTN has the worst prices but the article does not mention the data lasts for 60 days vs Vodacom and Cellc's 30days nor does it mention that the data can be extended or the 100% extra data promo that is still valid for MTN customers where R160 actually gives you 2GB.

The comparison does not include Telkom's Telkom only data which is significantly cheaper than all the networks where 2GB anytime and 1GB night surfer data cost a mere R149 valid until the end of the following month. The Telkom only 25GB anytime bundle + 25GB night surfer data is R999 and valid for 6 months compared to Vodacom's 20GB bundle for R999 valid only for 30days.

So these base prices are not necessarily what one would pay for data if you take advantage of promotions.

Telkom mobile prepaid should have 2 pricings, roaming (all networks) and Telkom only... i use it a lot, loaded again this morning for 2 users.
if u use the telkom network for data (not all networks), then pricing is 250Mb=R38, 500Mb=R69, 1Gb=R119, 5Gb=R349 making it a lot cheaper, also lasts until the next mo
Ja I was surprised as well thinking Telkom's title of being the cheapest had changed overnight. I also use Telkom data and enjoy the lowest rates in South Africa, not to mention the 2GB (anytime) + 1GB (night surfer) for only R149 as mentioned by cavedog. This means somebody wanting to choose a network and reading this article might get the wrong impression. I must say Vodacom rates have changed for the better from being by far the most expensive.
