New Safari

I don't read any of those forums and the General one only once in a while - only follow the Mac one religiously :-)

I'm just a bit puzzled as to why the chat function inside gmail still doesn't work on Safari. What technology does this use?

I installed it, but it is barely beta, it crashed 2 times in the first 10 minutes and sometimes tabs just won't load and stay blank if I clicked on a link. I liked the search feature it actually zooms the search terms rather than just a hard to find highlight, but I will wait for the next beta, uninstalled it and restored 2.0 back.

Ask gmail - they're the ones who have to implement it for Safari. :o

I'm more than happy to use iChat until then - nicer than having to keep a browser window open.

EDIT - I've had a quick look and I notice at least one feature missing from the windows version - the shortcuts for the first 9 links on the bookmarks bar. That's the one feature that I cant live without. Can anyone confirm it is still in the Mac version?

"Apple updates Safari with version 3.0.1 for Windows (beta)
Posted by Robert Vamosi

Stung by the harsh reception to Safari for Windows (beta), Apple today released Safari 3.0.1 for Windows (beta), addressing three flaws. The updated version patches CVE-2007-3186, a command-injection vulnerability that may lead to arbitrary code execution; CVE-2007-3185, an out-of-bounds memory read issue that may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution; and CVE-2007-2391, a race condition that may allow cross-site scripting. The patches are issued for Windows XP and Windows Vista users; these issues do not affect Mac OS X systems.

The latest version can be downloaded from Apple."

Just lisened to Macbreak podcast and they also disscussed it there. Looks like a good way for Apple to make some extra cash (Ads)

Yeah - I wonder how much Firefox makes out of that little search bar.
