So I'm pretty excited about these babies coming out. The Samsung shop at Canal Walk said they're hoping to get them in at the end of April...

I wanna get myself the PS43D450 (43" plasma) :D

Anyone else waiting for the new TVs to come out before buying?

I'm keeping my eye on those... but maybe the 51D500 or 51D6500...

Otherwise, I'll look at the rather limited (locally available) Panasonic range at Audio Vision (and some others). Panasonic do a 46" size now as well.

yup, will see what the prices look like...

Yeh, it bothers me a bit that they don't have an official importer in SA. Before I heard the new Sammy's were coming out I was gonna go for the Panasonic 42" X-series... R7.5k at AV..

The Audio Vision is owned by the same guys who own the Samsung shop.

I got my Samsung 42" from them for R1000 less.

So check them out before you buy.

Interested to see them! But it all depends on the price. Current PS42C430/C450 (R4,499 - R5,999) is nothing short of awesome. ;)

Yeah, I'm keen for the bigger size though and my wife wants a TV with a thinner bezel than the C430/50. So on paper at least, the D450 seems perfect :D
Just hope the price is perfect too!! ;)

Cool.

So one of the questions is, is the PS43D450 worth R1,500 more than the PS42C430?

I have a feeling not, but time will tell. :)

Well according to SamsungShop the D series is roughtly R1000 cheaper than their equivalent C Series screens.

Hmmm.

Hmmm... I think the C series prices are probably lower now as they are end of range... definitely a bargain :)

PS-42C450 - R6999
PS-43D450 - R6035.15

PS50C450 - R10999
PS-51D450 - R8230.15

Like model for like model... (on the same site)

Lol, those prices are extremely outdated.

Also, I would think the PS43D450 would be compared to the PS42C430, and PS43D490 compared to the PS42C450? Not sure really. But ja, very very outdated prices since PS42C450 can be had for R5,999, and PS50C450 for R7,999.

Whether they are outdated or not is irrelevant, they're on the site from the same retailer..

and what you think about what models should be compared with what is also not entirely relevant either... the Model Numbers place the D450 as the successor to the C450.. with the C430 falling away and the D490 coming in...

Fair enough, but who in their right mind would use Samsung Shop to buy older Samsungs when they have Google/MyBroadband/Game or Makro pamphlets? The new Samsungs are not cheaper than the old ones. Using SS as a comparison, and saying the new ones are cheaper, is not true.

I was unsure of model numbers but going by C450/D450 it seems you are right. So the new Samsungs are move expensive, not by much at all, and offer better features.

Whether picture quality is better, we will see. :p Eager to see the new black levels.

What I find interesting is that the D series will have 3D, as this is a middle of the range model. 3D is usually reserved for super-duper-you-can't-afford-this-mere-mortal models.

That is pretty cool :D

I'm actually very interested in the new models tbh..

They're what I would call TRUE widescreen (thats due to my preference not to have too much processing done on the image to get it displayed on the screen)... and they look decently priced.
