I had a 384kbs uncapped installation on Friday - as expected working fine with the 0.4Mbs down and 0.2Mbs upload - this with the "test" account as it was quite late on Friday when they were finished. (Connecting in East Rand - Benoni area - tower is at Manny's, about 3km north east of JHB Intl Airport)

Connection was fine Saturday... as from Sunday data trickles in at 1/10th of the speed and pings are 1300ms+.

I did my *duty* (seems like I always have to contact Screamer and they never contact me?) and emailed Screamer accounts today to ask for a reference number to accompany my EFT..... no responce at all. So I will keep my money a bit longer.....

I partly decided on Screamer for the "telephone number" that is supposed to be allocated. The installer somehow thought I did not want or need a line and did not bother to give the Linksys phone gateway. I reminded him on Saturday and this morning that I need the number - this morning they were supposedly busy activating my account (still can't access my webmail account so I doubt that my account was activated at all)

Can anyone say if it is normal for a test account to dwindle away after some time.... or is it the network in general.

Is there any software/guides that can actually show me some info on the Wimax.... signal strength, signal loss, upload/download speed etc ??? Maybe a reset/re-connect function? I am petty blind as to any activity on the Wimax. (Going through Router so not using a "dial up connection" from my pc)

I also find it strange that all my internal PC's are assigned 10.0.0.x IP's? From the Wimax I go through a Option Globesurfer iii router (192.168.x.x) and the Globesurfer is supposed to be DHCP server and gateway. From there I go through 2 Belkins .... so its kinda weird to have my shares available on the whole 10.0.0.x range? I can see some other PC's / media servers on the network too... probably people in similar situation. Is this supposed to be normal?

Anyway....despite my remarks I am happy that I have Screamer working to some extend at least.

Just reset the device that goes to teh Antennae. I had teh same thing and a reset fixed my problem. I am on teh same tower as you.

Thanks for advice Gary.

I pulled the power from the Alvarion/IDU a few times already (is this the correct way to do a "reset"?)... sometimes data improve, sometimes not.

Is there not s/w to issue a reset/reboot commands to the units..... surely ?!?

Last night a bit after 19:00 speed popped back to the expected speeds ... this morning its back to going nowhere slowly.... with uploads faster than download?!? (Well ANYTHING must be faster than 23.5! lol)

Screamers own speedtest...
Download Speed: 23.5 kbps
Typical Dialup 28 kbps 28 kbps
Your Speed 23.5 kbps

Upload Speed: 58.37 kbps
Typical Dialup 28 kbps 28 kbps
Your Speed 58.37 kbps
