New Subaru WRX

OK - time to compare Apples with Apples:

WRX - R449 000

G7 GTI R - R 498 000

Audi S 3 - R 510 500

Audi S 3 3 dr - R 493 000

BMW - M325 - R 538 346

Only the Audi & G7 is AWD as well.

Some FWD "rivals":

Ford Focus ST3 - R 389 000

Golf GTi - R 392 000

Opel OPC - R 457 000

Renault Megane III RS - R 429 000

Of these ones, Subaru is the only one with a Maintenance plan, has the biggest boot, 7 airbags

The main problem is that none of the other sound like the scooby. Please tell me it still sounds like one?

I don't think it still sounds the same bro, they have lost some character for me. But interior is 1 000 000 000 000 times better these days

Did they finally decide to put in a proper gearbox in this one? The 5-speed box in the previous one was a joke as it effectively limited the top speed to just over 200...

This one?
Make subaru
Model impreza
Variant 2.5 wrx sti
Price R 474,000
Release Date 201002
Discontinued Date 201010

Yeah and what was the price of the WRX back then?

EDIT: Ok got it..

Make subaru
Model impreza
Variant 2.5 wrx 4-door
Price R 379,000
Release Date 201011
Discontinued Date 201103

So R95 000 difference between the WRX and the STI. So if you apply the same to the new model then the STI will be R545 000 making it more expensive than the M235i and you get less for your money...

What BMW would you compare to this? 335i?

Well, he listed the M235i ... then claimed that the Subaru is the only one that "comes with a maintenance plan" ...whatever that implies.
What does this maintenance plan include, how long is it and how would it compare against BMWs motorplan, which covers almost everything.

I think he only referred to the front wheel drive cars. Not all of them. So he meant out of the last bunch only the Scooby comes with a maintenance plan.

I concur :)

I wish they had stuck a bit more to the WRX Concept look. That thing promised a lot and in the end we get a watered down product. Quite disappointing :(

This is what it could have been..

Ok I see that it will have a 6-speed box that won't turn the top speed into a joke, as the previous one did :)

Biggest improvement for me is not the styling, but the interior. It finally looks more premium, and less Corolla...

No idea, and to be honest in a car like this, I wouldn't want one no matter how good it was... :D

Yeah, I know. I'm conflicted. :(

But I just can't see myself buying manual again. 80% of my driving is drudgework.

All the online reviewers talked quite highly of it. So I am sure it is not too bad..

Cool. Will look out for some reviews.
