New Subaru WRX

Cool. What kind of auto is it, though?

*edit*

See it's a CVT.
Yes, the change points are electronically built in, so that it actually feels as if it is changing up.

BTW driving is a dream - plenty of very smooth power, and the exhaust noise has been ducted into the passenger cell, as it was in the BRZ and 86, and it crackles inside - brilliant sound!

No price yet? Think this will compete with the 3 series on price, or come in higher?

Linked article says:

Subaru has introduced this new WRX at exactly the same price-point as the outgoing model, with the six-speed manual going for R449 000 (add R20k on top for the CVT).

I joined Subaru Cape Town on Saturday for the launch.

Must admit, much like I hated the Hatch, i hated the look of this new WRX.

But somehow, the new shape is growing on me :wtf: Why you do this Subaru :wtf:
Even the 2011 sedan, I was not a fan at ist, but now, MAN i'd love one....
The car really has come a long way since the days of the GT.
It's much more refined. Also, I must admit, it's quick.
I managed to get into the car that Clare Vale was driving (and believe me, Clare can drive!)
Even with 3 passengers up, the car is quick around the track and brakes to boot. My '03 WRX's tyres scream around turn 2 and the kink between turn 3 and 4. But this thing, even at the speeds Clare was driving, was composed, granted she took the near perfect race line.

Love the digital boost gauge and the indash screen. Seats.... meh, I prefer the 2011 STi racier buckets. Even my blob's seats feels better.... this new one looks too toned down. STI will be different?

Styling overall, i think a 7/10 for now, but i'm sure a STi wing, proper wheels and a set of coilovers will do wonders for it.
Will I buy one.... I doubt it.. will most likely go for a 2011/12 STi, in fact my heart is hell bent on a BR-Z or 86 right now. ;)

went for the launch at subaru JHB, and took the manual for a test drive. The car felt absolutely amazing, and while being completely out of my budget (not to mention not really suited to what I want from my next car) I definitly think that Subaru's future is bright is they can keep on keeping on. Compared to a 2nd hand hatch STi that I drove afterwards, the new one is way better in every way, including power, dynamics, and delivery. The grip was spectacular, and I could easily go around a largish traffic cirlce at around 70km/h without even a squeek from the tires.

I was blown away and will definitely be doing anything within my power over the next few years to get my hands one one :D

I'm a big Scooby fan, but the front of this

C'mon, it looks like the B4 Legacy:

Saw the new Forester this morning and it's pretty sexy compared to the horrible things they were before.

It is, but it is amazing how many people still think that our cars look like the old ones and that shape changed at the end of 2007!!

Agreed. It doesn't have the expected Scooby "aggressiveness".

I thought so too, In fact found the rear VERY generic... somewhat like the Honda's and Audis bums.
However, today, picking up a few parts at Subaru, I saw three parked next to each other (bums facing me) and well, they looked good. :erm: WTF is wrong with me! :wtf:
