New Subaru WRX

Check at 18 sec in the Jeep video - he's taking out the bottom for sure and they conveniently cut away. So they show you these hardcore trails, but the car gets stuffed up in the process as it did with the local launch.

This car cannot do these trails without severe damage. I bet you I can get a citi golf down the same trail. Stupid I know, cause it's also gonna get stuffed up in the process.

If you want a 4x4 Jeep get a Rubicon or something. This Cherokee is nothing but an imitation and frankly not worth much off road. X3 is more luxurious, more refined, better engine and equally useless off-road. If you want in imitation the X3 is better at it.

Because Subaru was always about the character, which has been watered down.

Don't get me wrong- it's a great car, a better car than any of its predecessors by a long way. It's also the least Subaru of the lot.

Subaru beautiful. Really? I give up

BRZ is a different beast.

Different strokes, I guess - there are certainly ugly Subaru's out there - the B9 Tribeca comes to mind, and the current Outback will never be beautiful, but the tragedy of the 'average: SA buyer that I come across on MyBB is that looks go far beyond what the car actually is.

Looks are NOT everything, and I would far rather drive a beautifully engineered car that is safe and powerful, than a car that is just beautiful and handles like a 1972 Morris Marina.

With age comes taste, and I guess some of you are just going to have to age...

...and you should just retire already, because... oh, wait...

Sad.

You were one person on this forum that I actually respected - looks as if I don't know you after all.

Same here. Respected you. Could even look past your Scooby bias. Your Jeep hate is where I drew the line though. You are not objective at all... Makes no sense.

Cherokee Trailhawk seems to do just fine off road...

Also, I've looked at them up close, inside and out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quality.

That vid at 26 secs... he has no bottom left in that car, its gone.
I *love* the grand cherokee but at that price I would never buy one. The only actual off road jeep is a wrangler.

Awww lovers squabble. Stay tuned for the drama.

Next week on MyBB car thread: Roux strikes again, a wild Haldex clone appears! And will Fazda and QT make up? Stay tuned to find out!

Really weird.

You are now ignoring the fact that I have sold both cars, and got to know both cars intimately over the past few years.

You are obviously biased towards Jeep, so that makes you the expert?

I am passionate about Subaru for their engineering prowess, which actually makes the average Jeep look like an Ox wagon in comparison.

You also ignore the fact that I am now working with people who have sold Jeep for years, and who unashamedly agree with me as to the fact that the Subaru is a better product.

The Subaru is superior in EVERY aspect with the exception of ultimate off road ability, and they have never tried to be better than Jeep in that respect.

If poor finish, shocking fuel consumption, gearboxes that are definitely last century, 3 star safety rating, are all made null and void by heated leather seats and a brilliant sound system, then please go ahead, call me an idiot in preferring the Subaru over a Jeep.
If you don't wish to read what I have to say, please block me - it will be my pleasure not to have to argue with people who have not experienced, nor wish to experience anything above mediocrity.

Fazda, you are making wild statements. The Jeep Cherokee has a five star ncap safety rating -->

I also don't see how you can criticize the new nine speed gearbox - from my research it really is best in class. How is it last century?

Also, the fuel consumption for the new Cherokee is
Four-cylinder models are rated at 9,8 litres/100 km for the combined cycle while V6 Cherokees with this 4WD system rate 10,7 litres/100 km.

As for poor finishes, I personally couldn't spot any when I saw the car - and I did look - down to misplaced stitches on the leather.

I have refuted all of the claims you have made - still care to claim you are not biased in light thereof?

I was talking Jeeps in general, and not specifically the Cherokee, however, if you park the two cars next to each other, and go through them carefully, you will possibly see what I mean.

We all know that you were invited to the launch, and, as such, will be biased in the Jeep's favour, however, can you honestly say that you have compared the two cars side by side?

On the consumption side, we have now been running Jeeps for 3 years, and there is not a single salesperson who can get anywhere near stated consumption figures - even those aren't great when compared with many other cars.

i DO like the leather, and the sound system, as I said before, the finish is....interesting...try looking at panel fit, try looking at the way the doors clang shut, try looking at the plastic inserts around the console area, try looking at the plastic door handles inside - we sell the damned things and we HAVE to look at the cars in depth...every day, and the Jeep falls short, I'm sorry if you cannot see this.

Price wise, they have lost the plot as well - the Trailhawk may be good off road, but I'm afraid, at over 500 k, there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Fine, but the progress made on the Grand and the baby Cherokee is something else.

That's a non sequitor. Just because I was invited to the launch doesn't mean I am biased. However, even if so, not quite so biased as actually selling the cars ;)

Couldn't have been running the new Cherokee - and that's where Jeep is headed. You can't compare the latest Subarus with the Jeeps of yesteryear. Hell, I don't even think a comparison of the latest Jeep and latest Sabura is able to be made - they are in different classes.

The problem of not getting stated consumption figures is, however, universal.

I had an hour to wait for the queue to test drive the Cherokee, so I had plenty of time to check panel fit, press all the gadgets and what not. Honestly couldn't find fault. Don't take this as a slight, but perhaps if you posted pictures I could see what I am clearly missing.

We are at idem there.

But you're used to a Alfa, so that explains it...
