New Subaru WRX

Funnily enough, of all the cars that we sell, the ONE car that you can match the stated figures is the Subaru - Fiat and Alfa figures are a total fairy tale, and Jeep are somewhat misleading, when compared to the real world.

As for panel fit, might I ask you to visit your nearest friendly Subaru dealer, and look at what I mean by panel fit and quality - hopefully you will then see what I am getting at. Just open and close ( slam if you want) a Subaru door, and then go and do the same test on a Jeep.

I have never disputed the "bling" factor of the Jeep - it's amazing, and it is that alone that dazzles many buyers.

But that's the only report I could find on build quality. All others have raved about it.

Bling was never a factor.

Fazda, to be honest you don't really come across as unbiased. Don't think I've ever seen you acknowledge any problems with a Subaru. I mean, a couple of posts back you say the Jeep wins at serious offroading, and then insert the caveat that it's only because Subaru aren't trying to beat them.

No cars are perfect, so your inability to critique anything about the Scoobies does suggest irrational bias.

Quantum_Theory had a Jeep for years, didn't he? Would he not have noticed all the stuff you bemoan about Jeeps?

Loo, nothing wrong with being a fanboy (especially when you contribute quite a bit of knowledge to the forum as Fazda does, which we appreciate), but there comes a time when you need to acknowledge some problems with your brand of choice (all brands have their issues).

I will happily acknowledge problems with a Subaru when I find them.

Older ones had dodgy fuel consumption and a bloody awful 4 speed auto box that constantly hunted between gears.

New CVT box has improved both performance and fuel consumption.

Previous model Forester had a ridiculous passenger seat set-up where short ladies in the left hand seat ended up staring at the dashboard - also fixed in the new one.

Fuel consumption on the old WRX and STi was bloody awful - I also do not like driving the STi as it is harsh, and not particularly user friendly - that is why I like the new WRX, as it has sorted out 90% of the problems we encountered with the older ones.

Is that enough?

EDIT: - Sorry just remembered something else on the XV - I usually have one as a company car, and the CVT box initially took some getting used to, but once you know how to drive it, it's fine. The boot is too small - a great pity as we could have sold twice as many as we do, if the boot was bigger.

Just to get the record straight, I owned three Subarus in a row - did massive mileages in each one, then approached them and offered to sell their cars, that was back in 2010 - I have owned 70 cars in total, 68, 69 and 70 were all Subaru Outback models. Of all the cars that I have owned, Subaru was the most impressive.
If that highlights my bias, then so be it.

They are listed on one of the threads - I think Guess that Car - I will try and find them - Please note that the list does not list the company cars that I have had - I think there are about 12 Subarus since 2010...but that would be cheating!

70 cars - you sure the mind isn't letting you down. If you are 60 now (retirement age) that means you owned almost 2 cars a year from the age of 20. Sorry, but that seems highly unlikely.

Oh ye of little faith - I bought my first car in 1968 when I was in first year varsity - 19 years old, and at one stage I was averaging about 3 a year - I will post the list when I get home, I cannot find the thread that I posted in before.

BTW - do the maths - if I was 19 in 1968, how old am I now?

No issue with Excel, I had two of the same cars in a row on several occasions - rush of blood to the head - also, kept on going back to 1983 GTi's - would sell one, try and live with something else, and go back again!

The Corsas were also strange - got the first one, then got a Sport, then hated the colour and got a brilliant offer on it and went to the colour I should have taken in the first place!

The Corolla - I got one of the last wedge shape FWD's in 88, and about a month later the new shape came out, so there was another instant swap!

Just looked again - the two Jettas in 1989 - both were black, really cr@ppy paintwork on the first one so they replaced it with a new one after 3 months.

Just a word for the non believers - you must realise that most of those cars were pretty cheap, compared to what we pay now - my new 83 GTi was just over 9 k brand new, and used ones were in the 5 to 6 k range, so it was possible to change cars without much hassle at all.
