New The PC Build Thread

Anyone ever built a PC through wootware and let them install windows for you ? Guess there is a security risk but assume its minor ?

Never done that, but sure they are trustworthy and Don't have anything to worry about. You can always check event viewer and add remove apps to see if anything funny was installed, or even check if anything was added under ignore list under Windows defender.

There's no security risk.

They install it.

You active it.

Debloat it when you get it.

So... It is an improvement with some caveats.

IF it is running too hot, a certain individual might argue that it is wasted sand.

I am not hating on it, but there is an issue with these CPUs dying. Though the sample is still small, it seems very similar to Intel's degregation issue.

For caution, I would rather go with something like the 9900X3D. It doesn't run too hot, and AMD's new schedular puts it on par with the 9800X3D when it comes to gaming. The situation is the same with the 9950X3D. This is where it gets weird? The 9850X3D naming scheme doesn't align with the 9950X3D.

9950X3D - 16 Cores, 32 Threads
9900X3D - 12 Cores, 24 Threads
9850X3D - 8 Cores, 16 Threads
9800X3D - 8 Cores, 16 Threads

The pricing isn't bad though. No, I very much doubt that we will get the RAM, CPU, and heatsink bundle here. Asia-exclusives.

Reviewers should re-test the 7900X3D and 7950X3D. AMD might have updated the scheduler on those ;)

No but
ive updated customers machines that came from wootware whoever works there is a artist with cable management and their machines are solid built (IF you reading this thanks you make my siccors blunt btw lol)

if they install windows like me i build as well (busy with 41 machines this week) i install local account only then WIn updates and drivers and thats it unless you want something specific ill do that too

Cant speak for wootware on that but i assume its the same setup as i do.

Windows 10-11 is easy to install takes a few minutes if your SSD is fast the local acocunt for me is easier than asking whats your MS account details to which i dont want passwords shared to me anyway from local you could just sign in if you have to.

They install the benchmarking apps as well and will include the results as printout and include it on the box.

Yes their cabling is good but too tight. I had to cut fan and PSU cables my last cleanup. So tight was it on fact in almost cut through fan cables.

If you want things 100% then best do it yourself.

ja i got sharp end scissors also got a wire cutter for my vape kit but im not making that blunt on plastic Nothing wrong with it better than another store i cannot legally mention (you know who you are just shoving cables loose that isnt plugged into anything)

I cant say i leave screen shots on stress test and benchmarks i usally see does it pass good uninstall clear and move on. maybe i should (why not)
but i use 3DMark / superposition / OCCT / Memtest

Question to people that pay to get these Drives cloned

How much do you pay and how much is one willing to pay?

Service i can do but dont want to "rip" people off.

It depends on the shop, and under what conditions the drive must be cloned. Every IT business that I work with has itemised disk cloning, but not everyone has the same policy. I am not going to discuss all that here. Typically, time costs money.
that is true

HDD's take a much longer time to clone if you charge R500 per hour would be costly (maybe 2 hours work instead of 1)

i use a Tool from Nvme/SATA to Nvme takes like 5 mins for 256gb drive

took like 30mins for a 1TB to a 4TB but unfortunatly i had to get rid of bitlocker and so some CMD magic to expand the partition (stupid HP)

People pay for that??
Yes time is money nothing is free if you dont know how to change oil in the car you pay a mechanic time to do the job no?

some places charge nearly a grand as well

Ive done data recovery before man i def under charged on that one (from Macbook to windows readable drive cant say i enjoy doing that one.

Just a little curious, anyone heard of, or had experience with a 9800X3D burning up (on the local scene)? Seems to be a lot of that going around lately?

No, I don't know about any local incident. The cases that are publicly reported, mostly on Reddit, are a small sample. It is a bit overblown, though it should highlight caution.

There have been reports as to what may be the cause, but nothing can be assumed credible. No one except ASRock, really, has gone on the record.

What needs to be noted is:

1) Always use the latest BIOS provided by the motherboard vendor.
2) Avoid pushing PBO settings.
3) When using Ryzen Master, use the latest version applicable to your chipset and CPU.

That is it.

No heard other things like motherboards shorting out but maybe just like this its small incidents overblown online.

**This**

When using Ryzen Master know what you doing is also key.

also bad cooling could be the fault

SA second hand pricing has always been high, I'm sitting here with a 1600af and 16GB RAM, just wanted to build a cheapie machine and flog it. But second hand pricing makes it not really worth it.
