Keeping the card, it is going in the back up rig, in the mean time, thermal pad and thermal paste is R350 ~. Will sell the RX470 that was in that rig, fund the pads and thermal paste add a bit and get a decent keyboard and mouse.

Checked carb and elsewhere, did some numbers people are out of their minds. I am not plopping down 5k for a secondhand card, I have been burned more than once on carb with GPUs that have been baked or works a couple of days/weeks. Generally people don't look after their hardware. I am one of those anal guys that actually bothers with monitoring temps, removing side panel in summer.

Secondhand market is rife with hardware flippers too, nothing wrong with it, but you ain't doing it at my expense. Development software is moving to DX12 update in couple of months, it is optimized for nvidia, rather wait and save for a few months and spend 10-12k on a min 12 gig card even with the inflated pricing, there will be warranty.

Also need to replace my 4G router at some point this year as well. Would like to move to fixed LTE this year.

Yeah the 2060 isn't a bad card, odd that we say this now, but back in 2019 shoo :-).
My dad is running a 2060 super and it's running FS 2020 without an issue, still does the job.

Lol yeah if GPUs didn't cost the price of a beat up secondhand car, it would have been fine, no second thoughts needed. Also not getting into debt to buy PC hardware. Fck that.

The upgrades I did the last few months has been cash, you be surprised how much more you focus on getting value. Plus I have to support two people now, hospice is R11400 a month for my mom, plus the 8k for my self, as is had to cut down on pretty much everything.

Could have sold the back up rig, but no way I will be able to get one up and running again in short order again, it is a full rig, hard drives, monitors.

Yeah pricing is insane, in SA it's always been nuts, things that should've sold for a couple hundred bucks were going for R1500 :-(. Sorry about your mom

mom is doing way better again picking up some weight. Of course she is terminal but she is stable at least. If it wasn't for the dementia would have still looked after her. I knew that the hospice care was around the corner, which why there was a push to get upgrades done last year. No fcking chance of it this year, without resorting to eating bread and butter and showering when it rains lol

Yeah I can imagine, when my grandfather went into Hospice it cost a small fortune 20 years ago :-(. At least the upgrades are done and dusted for a bit and will give some peace of mind on that front.
My upgrades were across 4 PCs last year, with shifting of mobos and RAM, still got a 1600AF and 16GB of ram sitting on the shelf.

How about a donation "hint" "hint" lol......Lol rather not have to sell a kidney....:p

Lol half a donkey kidney.....lol, Doesn't really help, would prefer a windows 11 compatible bundle, sure you can bypass requirements, but there is nothing stopping microslop from pushing an update that breaks it, they already black listed rufus....
The 1600AF worked with Windows 11, it was the mobo that had hiccups :-( did they really black list rufus now?

Yeah you can no longer download windows ISOs from rufus...........microslop intentionally blocking rufus, you can still manually download ISOs and use rufus.
Ooooh phew :-) that I always did anyway

@Lupus
You should put some time aside and install aerotweaker.....You will be surprised just how much bloatware you can remove and disable. I have manually disabled automatic updates, pretty much had no issues with all the windows furbar updates the last few months as I only do updates every 3-4 months.
