New The PC Build Thread

This seems to be the way:

16pin 12v HPWR to 2 x (6+2) pin cable to two 8 pin sockets on GPU and one PCIe (8 pin to 6+2 pin) to 8 pin socket on GPU.

I would have gone with the Ryzen 7600 and put the saved money toward a 4070 Super...the CPU's are close enough to be indistinguishable while the 4070 Super is 50% faster than the 4060 Ti 16Gb.
Ok, if I take the Ryzen 7600, what motherboard?

That build is solid as hell, great for a couple of years, room for upgrades down the line, 10/10.

It's unfortunate that the best somewhat budget board is an Asus but what are you gonna do?

At least here (and like the entire world outside the US really), end users don't have to deal with the OEM if by some bad luck you end with a faulty item. We deal with the shop and they deal with whoever...Americans let that whole situation develop somehow and now they're doing the surprised Pikachu face when the inevitable happens.

As long as it is not a previously RMA'd board then it is all good. Ages ago, I ordered an ASUS H81 board... It looked like it was stored in a barn, had bent CPU socket pins, like in an L shape, and the socket cover was loose. RMA wasn’t accepted. This was more than a decade ago. Never had an issue since.

The shops go through the channels, and there are things which I won't explain here. In the US, and some other regions, the channels are more tightly-knit. Here they have 'strategic' partners, but there are cases where RMA'd products are shipped all the way back. Pending on the case, you may wait months.

Luckily we have an implied warranty. For the rest, there is an extended warranty, and this is where some sellers are more pro-consumer than others.

For the people here with Montech Air 903/1000 cases, can the side windows be secured with a screw? I think the 903 is screwed in, and the 1000 slid on vertically, but I am unsure whether the 1000 can also be secured.

Thanks!! Looks great. What I did not mention is the PSU, any suggestions

Any of the Superflower Leadex III Golds (650W, 750W or 850W) at Wootware would be ideal, the MSI MAG A650BN if you're wanting solid on a budget.

All of those have 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Was watching a hardware unboxed vid the other day and they recommended some asrock b650 as a good budget mb, can't remember which model it was.

Since I am doing my own build, and have a Deepcool PX1000G which is ATX 3.0. Would you use 12v HPWR to 3 x 8 to power a Radeon GPU? Since the Nvidia melting issue I am being cautious :giggle:
No melting issues for me, 12v cable replaced with Corsair cable.
4080 and not 4090, that's maybe why i have no issues.

I want to power a Radeon GPU which has 3 x 8 pin connectors. I thought I could use an extension/cable like this:

I don't see it recommended, or at least nothing is said by AMD. The best suggestion I came across is 12v HPWR to 2 x 8 pin (this extension or cable is usually provided with a GPU or PSU). Then the third straight 8 pins to 8 pins. I want to keep the installation tidy. Just evaluating my options.

You have a neat looking PC.

Not seeing anything for it, do you have a link?
Can't remember which one it was..... fuzzy recollection of one of the aftermarket one's being faulty. For some reason I think it's this..... aggravating.

What model GPU do you have?
