New The PC Build Thread

Ok, will the Ryzen 5 7600 5.10GHz 6-Core Zen 4 Socket AM5 Desktop CPU be sufficient?
6 core is at the plato of a steep dive into being a dodo.... I dunno what will replace it as the standard but for gaming you want to go at least 8 or 10 p-core unless you want to upgrade the CPU later.

EDIT: Keep in mind for 4k and upscaling the CPU is VERY important.

Hi Guys, I know from the experience of my fellow Broadbanders, Evetech is a bit of a risk, but their deals are much cheaper than Wootware. Anyone still had bad experiences with Evetech lately.
You get what you pay for..... if it's too good to be true.... etc

It's a balance thing - the 7900 GRE is going to be the limiting factor at 4k i.e. a 7500f is going to provide the same experience as a 7600 or 7600x all the way up the product stack.

I guess that means you can't go wrong, really. Enjoy your PC

ID-Cooling is where it's at now. Scythe were the upstart, now they are the ones being under-cut.

Scythe and ID-Cooling both have incredible value at their price point. I personally, at the top end, will still go Deepcool AK620, not much in it though, but it is not that much more.

Would recommend Thermalright, but it is not available here.

The kids want AIOs.

Now with brands pushing BTF, and case makers starting to support it, I am curious whether it will push prices up. It is more SKUs, more tooling... I am not planning to replace my non-BTF cases. Not all current BTF cases support Asus's advanced BTF.

It has to happen. Forced adoption, however, will hit the markets in the wrong way. Just another thing a buyer needs to pay attention to. Will need to see how this plays out.

To add to this, there is now Nvidia's new SFF-standard too which board partners have to accommodate. Way too many SKUs in my opinion.

AMD's new Ryzen line-up surpassed expectations by a little bit. No price announcements, but it could be considered to stay the course as per the previous generation. Would need to wait and see what the reviews say, but the latency improvements could put them well ahead Intel which Intel will then close with their new gen as per the norm.

The new AM5 800 series boards look nice, on standard, better than the current 600 series.

All in all, a better show by AMD.

Ignoring price, which "air-cooled optimized" PC case would you take:

1. Montech Air 903 MAX
2. Deepcool CH560
3. Lian-Li Lancool 216 RGB
4. Phanteks XT Pro Ultra (BTF-ready)

They probably all do about the same hey? negligible differences ?

Those Montech cases look damn good for the money, hard not to consider them when extra cash can goto other components

Don't all cases? Unless you want an enthusiast class case in which you want to do custom loops. Montech has some nice cases in that category too. I could have also added the Fractal Torrent to the list, but its ATX version is not within my budget.

Those listed aren't all the same, but all models are kitted. The CH560 and XT Pro Ultra come without an RGB/hub controller. The XT Pro is also the only BTF-ready case on that list.

I already have a CH560, and I had to purchase a controller additionally... Not regretting it, since I like it, but still I could have saved some Rands. However, I am building a 2nd PC too, and the Air 903 MAX looks the most attractive taking price into account...

Now I am hung up whether I should switch to the Lancool 216... The XT Pro is pretty, looks like a NZXT H7, but in standardized tests it is not in the same class as the others, though negligible. For gaming, all these cases should have the same temps more or less.

The Lancool 216 comes close to the Torrent. The CH560 and Air 903 are on par. The Air 903 seems the easiest to maintain.

For a new PC build I would highly recommend Montech too. In my opinion, the Air 903 is their best case.

The XT Pro's advantage is it being BTF-ready. I am not going to upgrade to BTF in the next 5 years, unless I have to. It is the best-looking case on the list, in my opinion. Like the odd R200 more than the Air 903 MAX.

Gamers Nexus might have the answer for you... Steve does some pretty intense case reviews and I'm sure they have a chart somewhere for you to peruse.

I know what to expect. It is a more aesthetic thing. I am leaning towards the Air 903 MAX. I considered the Air 1000 Premium, but it is a bit restrictive comparably, which I gathered by watching a Gamers Nexus review.

The base versions aren't attractive, considering what it costs to accessorize the base models unless you already have all the additions. Fans and controllers aren't cheap, it adds up.

i think alot of them come with 3 even 4 fans...

controllers might be the issue ja

For those interested:

Given that AM5 is ending it's final phase/s and seems more stable than it used to be.... it looks like 2025/6 might be the year to give team red a shot. Intel is REALLY dropping the ball with their e-core experiment.
