New The PC Build Thread

Well, my Foster Son bought a build from Wootware, in component form. I have just put it together, and have a "memory" issue.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3d, B850 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi 7, XPG LANCER DDR5 32GBx2 PC5-48000 6000MT/s

When you switch it on, motherboard CPU, LED flashes, then sticks on Memory LED.

Any known issues with this setup?
Gpu??

Might be a daft idea, but see if you can back off the memory a bit to say 5600MT/s or something like that.. from all my digging while plotting to spend money I can't really spend, it always seems as if AMD struggles a bit at times with faster memory.

What do you think of this build?
AMD Ryzen 9 5950x, MSI B550i Gaming Edge, WifiKlevv Cras XR RGBXFX ,AMD Radeon 5950xt and Merc (Black)Antec HCG 850W PSU

More than willing to try that, if only I can get the damn thingvto boot, to BIOS screen it does not. Power comes on, CPU LED flashes briefly, the DRAM LED comes on, and that is where it stops. RGB for GPU, and its fans come on. [ nVidia RTX 3060 ] , nothing further. :(

Update bios first via bios flashback and try 1 stick of ram

Almost all memory kits are advertised at their EXPO/XMP specs. A DDR5-6000 (EXPO) kit would be 4800MT/s at its stable clock. You would have to enable EXPO to get to 6000MT/s.

I would look at putting in a single stick and then look at updating the BIOS.

In which slots are the DIMMs installed? Gigabyte site recommends A2 & B2 which would not seem obvious..

* 2 DIMM: One pair of memory modules installed into the paired of slots will enable Dual-Channel memory configuration. Please install the memory modules into slot of DDR5_A2, DDR5_B2 for best compatibility and performance.

Done thank you :)

Ouch!!

In this case, it took as long as it took me too make a cuppa coffee, and come back. Appreciated.

It depends. Sometimes it can take 15-30 seconds; at other times, it could take some minutes. Changing things like PBO/eco/etc. also takes some more time on the initial boot.

For AM5, it is important to update the BIOS. AMD also regularly updates AGESA, but vendor adoption varies.

Seems that was the issue, switched it on, went and made myself a cup of coffee, and came back to see the boot screen, Windows installing as I type.

Thanks mate. :)
Glad you are sorted.

Remember that the larger the RAM capacity, the longer first boot takes. 128Gb can take 10 minutes or more.

Thanks, appreciated. BIOS was updated by Wootware before shipping, so note that they included says. Very nice of them.

Hmm bf6 seems to be quite taxing on cpu, on my 9950x i am using 60 to 70% gaming at 4k. Which means the the 2nd CCD also needs to do some work which is not so great for gaming.
