New The PC Build Thread

Really... that's good news I did see quite0 a lot of people on international forums that even for this old card a 450w psu is not ideal and some won't run it at all.

The card runs at 54 degrees max with full fan using afterburner when card is used to the max.

I just worried about someone that said a low powered psu will eventually fry your components ? And the fact that some said a 450w PSU will work but hard with a gtx 1060.

If anyone wants a 750w 60 amp server psu to swap for a 600w pc supply please let me know !

Are you undervolting or overvolting the card in afterburner?

Sorry i had to get home so i could send u a pic or two see attached, one is where its basically idling the other one is at full power with default settings.

It only went up to 47 today maybe its.the weather/humidity ? Or is this 450w psu maybe working better than the old one ?

I haven't touched any settings in afterburner, except making a throttle curve.

How does it look would you change anything if you look at pics ?

Dont want to damage the card '?

I didn't read the previous posts, are you worried about your GPU sitting at 54c because 54c is basically nothing, if your GPU had a grandma she would tell it to put a jacket on.

54 isn't that hot, my 3070ti was hitting 80 with today's temperature outside.

My GPU sometimes hits 85 C and it's still considered "normal". That being said...you should change the thermal paste and clean fans on the GPU every few years.

GPU/CPU's were built to thermal throttle in the case of dangerous temps to avaoid damage.

If you want internal PC components cooler then get a Corsair 5000D RGB case with extra fans - They are the best really.
Next best and not too far off at all cooling-wise is the Montech King Pro with extra fans.

Corsair - https://www.wootware.co.za/corsair-...lack-steel-atx-mid-tower-desktop-chassis.html

Montech - https://www.wootware.co.za/montech-...lass-black-atx-mid-tower-desktop-chassis.html

I would go with the Montech - not much cooling difference and it is BEAUTIFUL.

The Corsair 5000D RGB is pretty - as well as having a TON of extras that can prove very useful. Only issue is the price but it is a Lifetime case.

Doesn't look like any overclocking or undervolting has been done.

If you're interested in the benefits check this video out:

And the first comment on this thread has a great guide with pictures:

Additionally, what I've done that isn't mentioned in the links above is to slightly overclock the memory. I've given it a +1000 boost. Your milage may vary.

What's nice about afterburner is that if you overtweak or undertweak and it crashes you can just restart your pc and it's back to normal. So there's not really much chance of breaking things.

PS. the reason my idle temps are so high is that I set my fan to be off until the GPU gets nice and toasty.
CPU and case fans are also set to either off or the minimum speed possible, so my PC is essentially silent unless I play games. Sometimes I try turn it on even though it's already on lol.

Get the Silent series fans if you're concerned about noise. We really do need constant cooling...in the long run excessive prolonged heat is what buggers a PC up.

Sigh, I applied the microcode 0x129 BIOS update for my Gigabyte B660M motherboard and now Windows tells me I have to reactivate. None of the previous BIOS microcode updates gave me this issue.

What's the best course of action here, click on the 'I changed hardware on this device recently' will that allow me to reactivate and if that fails do I need to try to contact Microsoft? I'm running Windows 10 Pro and the key was purchased from Keysfan.com 2 years ago for a pretty cheap price.

Not like its expensive to get a new key. Less than R100 from carbonite.

If it doesnt reactivate it will most likely be the far cheaper option time and money-wise than sitting with Microsoft that will most likely just refuse to help with no PoP/ certificate for the license

Do you have the key registered to your account? If, yes, then your Windows key can easily be transferred to a new compatible device. I am unsure at the moment, but there is a Microsoft troubleshooter-esque method to it.

I haven't seen an issue like you are experiencing. There are instances where a microcode update could trigger Bitlocker protection, but I have only seen it happen with laptops.

Okay nice the 5700x3d does allow Mevhwarrior 5 Mercs to sit at a more constant 144fps sure it does dip too 120fps on occasion but it's not the dips to 100 like the 5600 did.

Yes I have the licence key, thanks I will try some things then and see what happens 🙏

I quoted some random on the internet:

Go to Settings > Update and security > Activation and run the troubleshooter. and select I recently changed hardware on this device.

The same method is applicable to any new device. Automatic activation only occurs when the license is linked to an account; otherwise, you will need to activate it manually.

Since Microsoft implemented account linking, I have never reached a limit on my Windows activations. From one device to another, to upgrades, etc.

I am still a bit puzzled how the microcode update triggered a deactivation. I can only think OEM key... but back in 2023 I recycled an old laptop's Windows 7 key that worked on a new Windows 11 install. MS don't allow this any more, unless the key was already used on a Windows 11 activation (and linked to an account), possibly due to grey market license sales.

So I have sourced an NR200P Max second hand looking to do a 9800x3D build as my i7 7700k is struggling in modern games even at 1080p.

So far it looks like only @Progenix Oj101 has it listed online, will you have stock available on launch day?

And so far looking at the B650I AORUS ULTRA would this be a suitable board?
