How taxing is it on AMD hardware? Most of AMD's newer GPUs are capable of Ray Tracing at 1080p, but pushing the quality thereof makes it hard for the hardware to keep up at 1440p. I am curious to see the Indiana Jones benchmarks.

You'll get a not fully stable but most of the time 60FPS with a 6700 XT at 1440P but that's the base RT settings, if you turn it up you'll probably get 30-40FPS.

So, got some Antec C8 cases from @Progenix Oj101 along with a shiny new Ryzen 9800X3D - Time to start the 'computer shuffle' - a painful process that I do every time I upgrade which results in rotating about 6 different computers worth of parts in the house, then all the hand-me-downs go to friends/family etc.

I picked up this Antec CX200M for R699 on black friday to replace an aged phanteks case for a smaller system and it is just the cutest little case that is pretending to be a big case with the fan layout.

It currently looks like the market is short on fans, everywhere I look 140mm fans are either horrible nasty corsair things with fixed LEDs, or R600 a fan.

Rebeltech have a special on some be quiet! shadow wings 140m which is just too good to pass up when you consider what other, far worse fans are going for.

Last night we successfully migrated my partner's PC from low-airflow Phanteks Evolv X to the C8, and with his 6950XT GPU and 3950X CPU, temps are instantly 5 degrees better even with el-cheapo fans moving air around.

I'm looking forward to moving from my NR200 hotbox into a C8.

Currently waiting for the rest of my parts (Motherboard/Cooler) from Wootware before starting my build, so right now our kitchen is filled with PC boxes and parts.

Ok, just got my PC back after the new kit was installed. So far, works like a charm and runs a shitton faster...

After some time of testing I can confirm that the ID-Cooling phase change pads are brilliant. Highly recommended.

I have been getting great results with Kooling Monster (EU-variant) too. It is crap to apply, but better than my other more popular pastes.

Is the new Indiana Jones the first game that made Ray Tracing a requirement? It is just strange to see, just that implementation alone will make a load of hardware obsolete for this game. It is not even limited to hardware that is 6 years or older. Slim pickings.

They must not like money.

OK help a noob. Just got all the parts for son's new pc and we are trying to build it while watching Youtube build videos.
So he will get a better cooler later, but for now will use the included Amd cooler. Now on that cooler there is either thermal paste or some thermal pad. Is that ok to use or should we rather clean it and use new thermal paste? It is a new CPU and cooler.

Honestly, if you're going to spend R 100 on thermal paste, you'll be better off putting that R 100 towards a better cooler sooner.

Well we have thermal paste. So is that better that is on the new cooler? Will buy the new cooler sometime this month probably. Just want to build the pc now and see if we actually do it right and everything works. We don't overclock and those things. The hardest the pc will work is playing Fortnite

The stock thermal compound will be fine. I wouldn't waste time or money getting something else if you're just replacing it soon. It's fine. Not great, but sufficient.

Just be careful when removing the cooler later, you'll want to heat the CPU and use a slight twisting motion when removing the cooler to ensure you break the bond between the CPU and cooler., so you don't pull the CPU out of the socket. Sounds worse than it is, it's a fairly simple thing to prevent.

LOL hopefully not. I don't know much and the boy less. But he have to learn to do it himself. So I am just checking in here and there with my little knowledge to see if he does not blow it up. Most things seem straightforward, Will just read a bit on how to install windows from usb for the first start.
