New The PC Build Thread

Thanks but I do have one in you just cant see it in that pic. :X3:

When it comes to evetech this is all I have to say
Evetech has a far larger inventory of accessories than Wootware does.

I don't see the problem.

The alternative is Amazon, which is still in its early days in SA. Or importing.

Unless you want returns and customer service, evetech is an issue. Wootware might not have all the bells and whistles, but their customer service and support is second to none, You only ever use evetech when there is no other option.

Nah that's nonsense.

You use them when they have something you want in stock.

I am willing to die on that hill. Say what you want, cheap prices aren't everything, and it usually comes at a cost.
I am not going to buy a 15k GPU from them with the risk of spending weeks on a RMA. Just isn't worth a R300.00 saving. I want to be able to return something and be sorted within a few days.

You don't have to look far to see the horror stories, people have with regard to RMA's and fine to say it won't happen to me, till it does. I might be picky, but my criteria are after sales support, then end.

Have you personally had this happen to you? Or is just on what others have said on the forum?

But you did get the replacement? What was the reason for the delays from Evetech though? Was it a stock issue?
Supplier issues, supplier was "not it", and having to constantly remind them, hey this is outstanding, and every time having to go through the same spiel every time, at some point they "forgot" about it. If I knew better, I would have hounded them.

But water under the bridge fck em. Shyte the bed with me once, I don't give second chances.

Right that would peeve me off too.

Yeah, might have improved since, who knows. But likely the courier drop-kicked the parcel like Naas Botha as all they said was "fall damage". lol

But yeah you want loyalty get a dog....
Yeah I've bought from Takealot, Wootware, Evetech, Computer Mania even got some stuff from Matrix

I have bought from Evetech twice no issues (Peripherals) however our company did buy a Laptop which had issues but the 3rd party MSI sorted out the warranty. One of my mates also bought ram which had issues and the swap / support was a disaster. Evetech has lots of grey imports and had many issues in the past but haven't used them in months so maybe the issues don't exist anymore (Also remember eveyone complains about bad service and not many compliment good service although Evetech also had some pretty dodge stories selling refurbished parts as new). I would personally rather buy from Wootware or Progenix and pay a small premium for peace of mind but if you are stretched or can't find the part anywhere else Evetech might be an option for you.

Takealot.....ugh....!!! pitch please...... And with them offloading to 3rd party couriers now for my area, it is a complete fckup.
Amazon is my go to lately, and only if it's cheaper than else where. Recently got both my PSU's from them and headphones. Next week it is wootware for the fans and case.

Pretty much cased out every shop and bookmarked the stuff I wanted to my cart.

For PC stuff that offers a 2 or 3 year warranty, does Takealot wash their hands of anything beyond a year's warranty and then has us deal with the 3rd party reseller directly? I'm thinking of a graphics card upgrade at some point using Takealot, purely because I can then use eBucks for the purchase.

They sometimes do :(

Pity Wootware doesn't resell on Takealot, even if it meant slightly inflated pricing on there. At least one knows it's a reputable company behind the scenes.

In general those graphics cards on Takealot are priced to maximise profit but the resellers names don't really instill confidence that they aren't anything more than a bunch of drop-shippers

edit: Names like Techlounge and Lekker Local...

No idea but I bought a Samsung S24 from takealot (didn't know it was a 3rd partly seller) after a month phone stopped working. Takealot didn't want to assist so had to take it directly to Samsung who confirmed it was blacklisted. Then I had to jump through lots of hoops and took just over a month and many emails & escalations just to get a refund.

Stick to companies with customer service even if there is a small premium!
