New to ADSL

just do self install?

its not that hard to plug in a router :P

did not pay a cent for mine, just order, got sms its ready plug in , ready to go.

Fair enough, however I have never had to wait longer than 24 hours from requesting DSL; to have the client up and running, when using Telkom Direct CTN.

It saves me the trip to the client's premises and I have no concerns when the client is technically challenged as Telkom will sort it, if not same day, next day.
 
Sorry if I'm jacking the thread, but I live in a flat and the main house already has a telephone line + adsl. But I want my own separate connection for my own convenience. I would mainly be using it for everything (browsing, downloads, online games). But my budget is tight and I'll happily settle for 384k.

I heard there is an option that gets you the landline installed for gratis? I'm completely new to this so I'm trying to work out the total costs involved in getting everything going.

ps. I don't like the idea of having my line "locked" to a specific isp.
 
yes think you sign 24 month contract they install normal landline for free not sure, my landline was there when i was still young :P

If you're sorry don't hijack :)

If you want your bandwidth you'll have to have your own line installed. Don't know about free installation offers but just get the analogue and ADSL lines from Telkom then pick your ISP.

If you PM me, I will forward you the name of a Telkom Direct consultant that will arrange for a free DSL installation not linked to a contract or a Call More package; no matter if you a business or residential client and no matter where you are located in South Africa.

I have this for the past 2months and its flawless. http and good seeded torrents running at full speed 420k.
streaming from dstv from lappy to 42inch lcd is perfect watching rugby and epl.
