Hey there, I am wanting to get rid of my wisp and I want to get ADSL. I don't have and ADSL line but i do have a telephone line. What are all the cost I need to pay in order to get my ADSL. As for my ISP I am looking at OpenWeb gold unshaped 384k line as an option, will i get decent download speed. I would not like to spend over R800 a month on internet.

WRT to the adsl line prices, you can check here: http://www.telkom.co.za/products_services/dsl/dslaccesonly.html
What that comes down to basically is R152 p/m for a 384 line plus a once off R598.31 installation fee.

I have a 4mb line so I can't really comment on the download speeds of the 384 line.
I do see that the OW unshapes gold account is R599, so you will be paying a total of R751 p/m for your net access.

rather get 4mb then 384 unshaped, 384 is nothing compared to 4meg

4meg uncapped is about R900 a month.

Tanks for the quick replay. Yeah ideally I would like uncapped because its not just me on the internet, I like to download files and stuff. Apparently I need to install a adsl line and telkom says it will cost me +-R1000

i believe only business lines come with free installation now

btw Panda, is/was there a Telkom land-line where you want ADSL?

Can you upgrade my line while you @ it :D

If you are the owner of the line, you can call Telkom on 0800 375 375 / 0800 500 200 and ask them to upgrade your line - it takes two minutes, should the operator be able to speak English and operate a PC efficiently. (Trick: Insist on speaking Afrikaans)

Alternatively contact: Telkom Direct

@LzyPanda - set you a PM.
