My concern with Apple is they're seemingly non-committal to SA. I had an iPod with an inked screen. Unrepairable according to Apple SA but I took it in to them anyway. There head office comprises a grubby little office in Morningside where a few disgruntled customers had brought in pods and laptops and where waiting for service.

I sent my pod in and was fortunate to have it replaced with a brand new unit, fortunate as the warranty doesn't cover user negligence which is what they claimed caused the inked screen.

My point is there was one lady at reception, taking and dispatching damaged and repaired items, answering the phone, buzzing the security gate for incoming and outgoing customers. No infrastructure is what I'm saying.

Now add a couple of thousand iPhone customers to their customer base and what do you have?

A fu cking disaster, that's what...

Sorry but until we see some commitment from Apple to the South African market I wouldn't purchase their products (other than the mighty iPod that is)...

It's not even a typo . Look at the poster's other ads. There's definately something fishy about this guy.

Yeah, he's got a whole list of phones for between R200 and R300. R200 for a brand new TyTN II! If there was the slightest chance it was real, I'd go for it :D

The scam goes like this, you need to pay the price upfront through deposit or EFT to the scammer, and then he either not going to respond to your further calls, or maybe he will (don't think you are lucky). But there will be all kinds of excuses coming up, eg you need to pay a further RXXX to get it shipped because of XXX. If you think OK, it's small money (R7000 phone going for R200+ whatever he's asking), why not take a chance, then just say bye bye to your 'phone' and money.
