Why on earth we must have a driving licences, traffic rules and laws 
It can't be true. Is a scam. Everyone should be allowed to drive at his/her pace and if I want to drive without lights at night then so be it. F . . . them, fines and all. I am a free man. Where is my freedom of choice? Hmmm . . . from tomorrow I will only drive on the right side of the road Please, don't tell me there is a rule which says, I must keep left. Screw them

I got pulled over because my friend was sitting on the tailgate of my bakkie, and i was asked if i had anything to drink so i said 2 drinks. I just had 1 double brandy at happy hour so i got 1 free before heading through to my friends place for his birthday.
I was honest and admitted that i had 2 drinks, which i thought would not be over the limit, next thing im been read my rights and im under arrest. No breathalyser, no phone calls, handcuffed and thrown into the back of the police van to be taken to the hospital to have blood drawn. My vehicle was also confiscated without my permission or my fathers (vehicle was in his name) and my friends who were with me were left on the side of the road.
I refused to have my blood taken which resulted in having my arm held down by 2 police men and then taken back to the holding cells for the rest of the night.
Went to court 3 times, missed 3 days of work and ended up been 0.08 which resulted in 100 hours community service.
So even if you did refuse i doubt you would get anywhere...

These regulations are one thing.
The other is where are the officers to actually do the enforcement?
Driving daily, I see so many of these offenses being committed with never an enforcement officer in sight.
Too busy hiding behind bushes to photograph speeding vehicles (soft target) or sleeping in their cars next to the road no doubt.
Like most of the legislation in this country, the people who are supposed to enforce them are never around.
Government should concentrate more on the enforcement of legislation than creating the actual legislation.

Yes but if you refuse to pay the fine you will be arrested and a court date set.
They obviously put that one in for a joke.

A lot of people don't even seem to know their cars come with these.
On the motorways? Or do they mean driving onto the pavement to overtake (something I consider unwise).
It would be a nice change if the idiots out there learned the concept of left/middle/right lanes and their intended purpose.
They need to get out there and fix the painted lines on the roads. I've seen far too many cases of solid lines where there is a long clear view ahead and broken lines where you there isn't.
While it's dumb to do this on purpose how are they going to prove you did it deliberately?
Change that using a bus to pass without due care. Golden Arrow will be getting hundreds of fines an hour.
Should add failing to keep right when stopping to make a right turn and indicating after braking.
Seen places where the parking bays appear to be painted in contravention of some of these rules.
I wonder if they do a nicotine test or just go by the smell. Nicotine might interefere with further absorption of alcohol, but does it have any affect on the current blood alcohol level?

In a country where a lot of people drive without even having a license.
I too am still waiting for them to get out there and actually go after the people driving dangerously. And while the taxis are definitely core offenders they're not the only ones that drive like that.

So they didn't target this at the taxi drivers.
They should make it like the old UK system where if you get points they appear printed on your actual drivers license. That way any cop can see what you've been up to.

80% of them don't have licenses anyway... and the other 20% are going to lose their licenses the first week!

The courts are battling as it is to try and keep up with crime that is real and serious.
HUGE delay on getting people to have their "day-in-court" . Conviction rate abysmally low.
If they spoke about the old "Gestapo" regime as being a police state -- I wonder what they are going to call this new dispensation ????

How do you know it is safe to stop? This is very cruel, but I cannot risk myself and my family to stop at an unsafe location at night

Hey not sure that is right. You do have to stop and assist if you see an accident. Of course stopping and assisting you do with common sense. Such as if there are already people helping.
