Hi,

Can someone please recommend a new TV for me.

- Must be 4k, HDR
- Have the latest technology
- not too worried about curved/smart features

budget 15000

I am currently looking at the LG 55” 55UH770

I see that the TV supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Which is good.

I'm trying to find out if we get any UHD Premium certified TVs in the price range.

Makro currently have the Hisense 55M7000 on promotion for R12999, and Takealot have the 55K3300 for R9500 or so... But the 7 series has HDR and higher frame rate.

Hisense. I have the 49k300uw. UHD, (claims HDR) and smart. Paid R7000 at Game.

Look at the Hisense 55M7000. Epic TV.

Yeah, from what I can find that LG is in a sweet spot price wise. The next level TVs up from that, are at around the R20k-R25k mark so way over budget.

I wasn't impressed with the input lag on the LG's for gaming. The upscaling of TV content from the decoder wasn't that great either.

How long ago and when last have you checked your decoder for what it is capable of delivering ?

Which decoder are you referring to?

In December my friend purchased an LG SUHD 55" TV and gen 1 Explorer. PS4 looked fine.

When you set the TV to "game mode" it halves the input lag. Reviews I saw also say there was an improvement in input lag from previous models.

All HD channels on DSTV are now 1080i. So unless for some or other reason, the decoder settings were fixed on to 720p there should be no real change in perceived quality when displayed on a FHD panel at 1080p.

If you are talking of other SD channels then yes maybe. No upscaling should be involved for HD channels.

I'll relay this info to my buddy. Will double check what settings the Explorer is doing.
