These boxes can be enabled as IPTV STB's. That's what the ethernet port is for.
so does that mean you can connect it to your pc and watch content from your pc on your tv?
soz for the noob q.

Here is a more detailed comparison

As you can see the UEC is slightly longer then the Pace
Some differences:
UEC processor is slightly faster, the overall performance & remote response is a little quicker
SatCR port is LNB 2, Pace has it on LNB 1. Makes no difference to anything though
HDCP problems, the UEC has not given me any, the Pace does sometimes when changing sources
RF output, UEC has a much better RF output
Boot up time on UEC is half the time of the Pace
Video stutter, this is the only real downside of the UEC. It occurs during playback & in the buffer. After fast forwarding the video freezes for a split second & the audio goes out of sync before it corrects itself about 5 seconds later. Small issue but quite irritating
There were a few other once off issues so at the moment I still prefer the Pace

Mainly the video stuttering, BUT I only noted the differences, other little bugs & issues on the Pace are also present on the UECSo why do you still prefer the Pace, as in your comparison above the UEC the gives better performance.
With all the ***** the Pace is giving, the UEC is clearly the better buy. All the Pace issues is not due to software only.
You're kidding, right? Yea, I want to spend R2999 for the cutting edge HIGH DEFINITION satellite PVR so that I can output it to my 80s Telefunken.sports an S-Video port which is not available on its competitor
Thank goodness. Can you imagine how they'd cock something up that costs less?MultiChoice has previously revealed plans to launch a more affordable, ‘entry level’ HD PVR, but the company said that there is currently no planned launch date or pricing available for this device.
so these geniuses sat in a room and decided that they will make a decoder locally and then sell it at the same price as the one they're importing??
did i miss something??
Both are imported from the East...
They did it for redundancy. Was required for Naspers to list on the NYSE. Cheaper HDPVR still coming.
dont UEC assemble this stuff in durban?
They used to. Moved production to the East a while back.

The UEC HDPVR is built in at the UEC factory in Durban.

Durban is "East", isn't it![]()
I was told that it is more stable than the pace, I can't give you any proof on that, but I have a good source!
